Re: Welcome to the Back Fence for January 2018

Hope your crown work goes well.  Merle is still dealing with his flipper.  We went to restaurant New Years and when he gave his order, I noticed he didn't have it in.  Then I couldn't keep from looking at it.  Not a pretty sight.   In February he finds out if he has to have a second graft. It will be so nice when he finally doesn't need to deal with it any more.

Im going to make a pot of what we call chili.  I put spaghetti in mine. That the way my mother made it, probably to make it stretch.  These days, we don't use as many beans. Lol.

Re: Welcome to the Back Fence for January 2018

Geez Louise, we are in the deep freeze here in SE Michigan.  I consider myself a thankful and grateful person and am even more thankful that I have a car to drive (not waiting for a bus) and a warm home to go to in these temps.

Re: Welcome to the Back Fence for January 2018

The weather is never quite perfect is it Bernie?  Things happen and some people believe otherwise due to one or more things. Because of the freeze in the East does NOT mean there is Global Warming. Why are people saying that?  Global warming does NOT mean there never is snow again, nor ice, and so on. Read several things on FB where people are saying something similar. I grew up on the East Coast - little bit south of you, NC - but recall how very frigid and snowy it got. You could almost bank on being out of school a spell each and every January. I remember it well and the trees all iced over. I still pay attention to the weather although I do not live in NC any more but as far as I am concerned, it use to be much colder and difficult to get around in. Now Michigan is I guess really cold - my sister and her family are there in Flint.

Have things to do, kids are not really well as Ricky seems to have taken a turn a bit worse and he had completely stopped the coughing. Leah is rolling - not quite yet and I hope she stays asleep perhaps at least another 30 minutes. Ricky has been coughing and obviously not in a good mood since about 5 this morning. Geesh.

Stay warm everyone and stay out of the cold if possible.

Re: Welcome to the Back Fence for January 2018

Still in deep freeze here.  But Sunday is supposed to be in the plus 20s.   With the rise In Temp, we will get snow but thankfully not the six feet that some people have received.

im glad we have a garage for the car.  I wish the tires would stay inflated.  Rims need to be wire brushed so they will seal better.

I ferl sorry also for so for the animals. Hopefully no domestic ones are being left out in this.  I don't know how God provides for the wild ones but many do make it through.

Hope everyone can stay well.   We've had nine deaths from the flu.  Hard to believe those germs survive this cold.

Re: Welcome to the Back Fence for January 2018

Almost everyone I know is sick out here in my houseful although so far I have escaped it, not sure how. And all the babysitters, friends - you name them. I hear and read about the Flu but basically everyone I know, including those in my house, were told they have viral infections - no antibiotics for them. Just cough meds and Tylenol, etc if necessary. Ricky had gotten almost well and boom, he is now having more problems than others. May have to take him back to Urgent Care or Emergency Room. Do NOT want to go to the Emergency room as it would be hours sitting there and he does NOT sit any too well. We shall see.

Stay warm everyone - super chilly this morning but no rain or snow predicted for us. Perhaps hits the 60s today - wish it would get up to at least 70 but doubt it.

Re: Welcome to the Back Fence for January 2018

Freddie @Winifred  I can't say it's the flu kicking butts around here.  More like a cold that lingers for 2 weeks.  In my case and in my sister's case we never had a fever or anything.  Her cold lasted about a week - mine dragged on and is almost gone after 2 weeks.

All I took was Zicam rapidmelts.  Maybe once or twice I took over the counter Delsym cough syrup.

Since we came back to work after the new year all I hear across the floor is coughing and sneezing.  I am trying to avoid other people at work like the plague, lol.

You have to be especially careful with your COPD.  I work with a couple of people who are asthmatic at work and they have to be really careful too.

I remember in 2014, my sister Anna and each one of her daughters and their respective families (little kids) kept some kind of virus going around that started around Thanksgiving.  We all agreed to postpone any Christmas visiting and each family sequestered themselves in their own homes.  That's what phones are for, lol.  I never caught it and ran errands for Anna when she needed something from the store.  She would unlock the front door and I would slide any bags into the entrance hall and simply back out.  I even told her, don't worry about the money, rofl.

@Epicurean  oh wow, I totally forgot that re-piping the entire house would require holes in the wall.  At least the bathrooms are done Woman Very Happy

Well I wonder where my post went.  Some group on the bbs must wonder what I'm talking about. Sorry you're having to deal with all the repairs Epi but glad they are making good progress.  Now I'm off to see what I did with my post.

@yock  It may have never posted and could be saved as a draft.  If you look at the top right part of the forum, where your name is and rest of the cursor over the name, 4 choices should appear.  If you click on profile then look to the far left and scroll down, it will show you if there were any drafts saved.
