Have you seen the Weathertech commercial where the dad says "Oh, fudge!" and the toddler repeats it? So funny! Brings us back to the movie "A Christmas Story."
I have a similar story. Our first son was still in diapers, but talking; and DH was changing his diaper. Something went wrong, and DH said "Oh, fudge!" Well, our son started to say it over and over again. I tried to pretend he said something else, like "duck" or "truck." But no dice. I called my SIL in desperation. She said don't mention it again and DON'T go to church for two weeks, and you should be fine. She was right! ![]()

I think the mother's face is what makes it.
My father used to come in and say "Hey Monkeeee" to my daughter, so she started calling him Monkey. It stuck.

@Icegoddess Definitely the mother's face. There's real meaning behind the saying "Little pitchers have big ears." Monkeys included! Hahaha!

Many many years ago my next door neighbor said something about her "big boobs" in front of her baby girl who talked at an early age. Of course, that child shouted "big boobs!" everywhere she went for a week or so lol.

@PA Mom-mom That is so funny. I'm embarrassed to say that many years ago I had an "oh fudge" moment. I was driving from Pa. to Florida to visit my parents. I accidentally missed an exit and ended up in Washington D.C. at rush hour. Yes I was young and out of frustration, I quietly let it slip in front of my 4 year old daughter. 🤦🏻♀️
I thought she didn't hear me or would forget by the time we arrived in Florida 10 hours later...but noooo.....the first thing out of her mouth was "Hey Gram...we got lost and guess what Mommy said". I was mortified. Here we are... 35 years later and my daughter still laughs about it.

I have one about me. I don't remember how old I was, but I think it may have been when my older sister was wanting to start wearing makeup. My father said that he didn't like women who wore a lot of makeup. He said he thought it made them look cheap. Well, next time I'm at church I tell my Sunday School teacher that my father thought she looked cheap. He never mentioned her, but she did wear a lot of makeup IMO.

@PA Mom-mom ---had to laugh out loud at your story--same thing happened with my son and the truck--came out very unacceptably especially around his very religious grand parents----I then began to make sure that everytime he saw a "truck" that I corrected him by telling him that was a pick-up!!! Took a little time but he got the hang of it---hilarious !!!!

I've not seen the commercial but wanted to put in that I love this company. I learned about them some years back when I worked at an auto repair company. They would purchase the floor mats for customers whose cars we'd repair. The products are really nice, I have the floor mats in my 20 year old car. They're excellent products and are America made.
