I just got a phone call from the brother of a close family friend. My husband and I have been like parents to my daughter's high school and college sweetheart. The romance between my daughter and John ended but we have been friends with him for 30 years. He's a physician who has advised us over the years. We hosted his daughter when she came to the university in our town.

Johns's brother told us that John had a brain aneurysm and is in critical condition after surgery. Blood clots remain and now John has pneumonia. He may not make it. Our family is in a state of shock. We''ve been like family for decades. When I asked John's brother if there was anything we could do, all he said was, "Pray."

I'm so sorry.

Brain aneurysms terrify me. A girl in my high school class died of one 3 days before our graduation.

But there is hope! My friend's brother had one a few years ago and they got him to the hospital immediately. He was also critical and in a coma for several days, but he wound up making a complete recovery. It was a long road and a lot of rehab, but today he's strong and healthy.

I will pray for a similar outcome for your friend.

🙏🏻 For your friend, you & families.

One just never knows what each minute will bring. We are still mourning the loss of my nephew so suddenly.

And my closest friend was driving home Monday and had a heart attack thank god she knew something was going wrong, she drove to emergency room. She's doing ok.

I'm so sorry to read this.  My friend had a brain aneurysm last summer and has recovered completely.  It was a long ordeal, but she did recover.  She was in the bathroom when it happened, and her two dogs were with her.  They started barking and notified her husband who found her.

I hope your friend will be all right, too.
