John Prine, 73, died 4/7/20 from COVID-19

While he's never been a household word he's a truly brilliant songwriter and has been influencing young talent for decades. I've loved him since being introduced to him as a teenager in the mid-70s and I've passed that along to my daughter. A 50 year career and he's still relevant today! Universally respected by fans and peers alike it's a huge loss that can never be replaced.

RIP John. I already miss you

Re: We lost a national treasure

Back in the late 60s, I began enjoying my John Prine albums. I am very dismayed that he has died from this virus.

I've been a fan of John Prine for decades.  I saw him in the 70s and he was great!  I was sad to hear of his passing.

I was never a big fan of the music, but I do remember him from Falling From Grace. In 1992 John Mellencamp released a movie & John Prime was in it.

I went to the theater to see it & I was the only person in the theater.

@CalminHeart

Wow! I'm jealous. I was never able to see him live.

What a treat!

may he rest in peace.

i have never heard of him, but it seems as if he was very well respected and had a lot of talent.

he will live on through his music.

@sunshine45

I think you know this one.

Bonnie Rait had a big hit with this Prine tune.

            A talented, gifted, respected musician, poet, wordsmith.   I think many people have heard his songs but didn't know his name.   His words and music sprang from the heart, the soul, and resonated with many of us.   Rest in Peace with the angels.  Thank you for sharing your gifts with us.❤️
