I know it will be resolved and the mitigators are the nicest people,but.......people in and out.
Hubbs closet in the loft was the worst. The carpet on the floor was soaking wet and had to be removed and we may need a new sub floor up there.
Our home is a geodesic dome and many of the appraisers have never heard of that kind of home.
We tell them to Google Buckminister Fuller.
Roof will need major repairs.
@Group 5 minus 1 I am so sorry you have to go through this - I know firsthand what it's like to have your home damaged due to Mother Nature. About 15 years ago my home was hit by lightning during a fierce summer thunderstorm here in NJ. My chimney was blown off, roof damaged & the electricity destroyed every single item plugged in whether they were being used or not, The electricity ran from the chimney down through the fireplace -(will never forget what that arc of blue electricity looked like) and then continued to travel until it seared my garage doors out the other end of the house. By the grace of God my children - who were asleep in their rooms , my husband & I - were not hurt and the house did not burn down. The lightning strike sounded like a sonic boom to the house The nightmare of the aftermath repairs involving masons, roofers, and insurance approval for every detail was definitely taxing. I'm glad you are pleased with who is helping you navigate this undertaking. Hang in there - it WILL get better but takes patience. No matter what time frame you're given for repairs it always seems to take longer.

"You must be patient" says my insurance company. It's been 19 months since I had a water pipe break inside the house. The contractor spends an hour here every few months. I am going INSANE!

Must be a stellar year for ice dams. We had one above our bathroom it was about 10 inches of ice. Water started coming in through the window. We use gutter heaters too. Hopefully no major damage occurred. Seems to be ok now that it's warmed up a bit this week in Wisconsin. Good luck to you.

Gotta buy yourself a roof rake. I live in upper lower peninsula of Michigan. As soon as we get a sizeable snow my dh is out raking the snow off our roof. It works100%! We have pretty fierce winters where i live and have never had even a hint of ice dams.

@Group 5 minus 1, so you live in a geodesic dome. How cool is that?!
What's the area like where you live? Are there any other domes nearby, or is yours the only one?
I'm fascinated!
Hope things settle down soon.

We live in a small city in the mountains of AZ. Today a neighbor informed us of a broken water pipe in front yard. Public Works says its a BIG problem ( extent unknown until plumber comes at 1 pm today. I called USAA and probably they'll cover everything except $1000 deductible ( fingers crossed) and water bill! I've had USAA for 42 yrs and made 4 claims in that time; all water related, 3 of which were broken pipes. We think this 4th claim may be due to freezing ( 10 degrees last night ), home is 20 years old.

How innovative and adventurous! It sounds lovely to me.
Sorry about the tardiness of those people. It must be really frustrating.

The wet carpeting was removed from Hubbs' closet and taken away. Our living room furniture is in a pod next to the house and our LR is empty.
Monday scaffolding will be put in the living room.
