Watching reruns of My Three Sons and Leave It To Beaver

Very entertaining!  So much on these shows that would never be allowed today... political correctness in a few of the shows I watched... and the simplicity of everything... like a fantasy world.... kind of nice to mindlessly watch these shows sometimes.   June Cleaver always had on her pearls and   pretty dress when Ward came home... arranging flowers or fixing dinner... no job for June! Lucky lady!

I googled most of the actors in these two shows... most have passed away... even the younger actors. like Robby from My Three Sons who passed away in 2012 of cancer...

Re: Watching reruns of My Three Sons and Leave It To Beaver

@SeaMaiden I'm 72 and for years have dvr'd the Leave It To Beaver reruns on MeTV! I thought Ward was a good dad. He often made mistakes and would apologize to his kids, a trait I always admired.

Barbara Billingsley said she had some kind of "something" (she didn't say what) at the base of her throat and that's why she always had on pearls or a necklace of some kind.

Corny sometimes, sure, but still a good family values show.

@SeaMaiden Speaking of Robby (Don Grady) on MTS, am sure I'm behind the times but didn't know till recently his real-life sister was Lani O'Grady of Eight is Enough.

The pearls, which in real life were Billingsley's trademark, were, in turn, her idea to have her alter ego wear on television. The actress had what she termed "a hollow" on her neck and thought that wearing a strand of white pearls would lighten it up for the cameras.

@mom2four0418 @KKJ "mom" that's what I couldn't remember in my post above yours about her wearing the pearls!

kkj: Lani was his sister. Long story short, eons ago when I lived in So. Cal. I worked in a law firm and one of the attorneys, who my DH and I got to be good friends with, had a doctor friend who dated Lani for awhile. A funny: There was a blurb in the Enquirer where she did state that she and (his name) were dating. It didn't last long!

@Love my grandkids that is a cool story!  Thought she had a sad story and after the show ended she battled  drug addiction and died at a pretty young age.

@KKJ     Yes!  She passed away in 2002 living in a trailer....alone... of drug overdose.... only 44 or so.  Sad.   She had a lot of mental issues.. depression and also alcoholism...

And another actress, Susan Richardson in that show Eight is enough  who played Susan Bradford. (she always wore the blond pigtails)... ended up  in a bad way too:This is from 2013....

Former “Eight Is Enough” star Susan Richardson is reportedly broke, living in a trailer and suffering from “devastating” health problems.

The 60-year-old spoke with the National Enquirer, telling the magazine that she doesn’t want to complain too much, but she admits she has her fair share of problems.

The former actress was cast to play the fourth oldest child on “Eight Is Enough” back in 1977 and played the role of Susan Bradford for five seasons. Her career stalled once the series ended, and her last credit is the 1989 TV movie “An Eight Is Enough Wedding.”

Today, Richardson is wracked with medical problems, living with diabetes and having suffered several strokes. She has a digestive problem that she said have caused her to lose all of her teeth, and her weight has plummeted to a mere 60 pounds.

“I had a series of mini-strokes. Then I discovered I had a rare disorder that made my esophagus go spastic,” she told the magazine (via Hollywood.com)

Financial problems soon followed her ailing health, and now Richardson lives in a “rotting trailer” in Wagontown, Pa., that she can’t even afford to heat.

“There’s always something wrong with it. I desperately need a new trailer but I can’t afford it,” she said.

Richardson isn’t the only sitcom star to have fallen on hard times. Like Richardson, former “Happy Days” star Erin Moran is also broke and living like a recluse in Indiana, after being evicted from her home and a trailer park. The former actress has found herself in nothing but trouble, even getting in a drunken brawl with her 72-year-old mother-in-law last October.

And Adam Rich who played Nicholas also had drug problems... going to jail... a messed up life after the show....

I watch My Three Sons every morning on ME TV. I really prefer these types of shows from when I was little. Guess I never outgrew them.

My Aunt who is 70, grew up watching some of those shows.

I remember watching Donna  Reed re-runs, with her. She said it drove her mom crazy, how women were portrayed.

Apparently, my Grandma, didn't know any women, who, busy raising kids, taking care of a home, husband, and pets, also pranced around, all day, in dresses, jewelry, and heels.  Not a hair out of place, and perfect make up😉

My Aunt said she didn't remember any moms like that, either!
