Consider this a place to vent, to lean in a frustrating moment. Walmart is cutting hours to full time employees, a little here another there.  Bi weekly pay down 80.00 Dollars which loses 160.00 on a month of pay.

The days of full time guarantees are over. Yes, it's come to a PT job on days off. Work 7 days to keep elevated. Weekly grocery shopping become a round of cat and mouse. There's nothing extra and I wonder how what gets cut. There's definitely no QVC lol.

Are you a Walmart employee?  That's a big dip in income 🙁

@katie1859. Sales must have been below predictions for the holiday period?  I bet the Temu mess is hurting Walmart sales too.

I certainly do my part by buying all my groceries there.

Not surprising - Around here, they cut back on full time jobs a few years ago after changes in healthcare policy.  It's cheaper on their end to put two parttime people in place than have one fulltime person in the same position.

Hopefully, they will continue to get their employee discount.

Sorry you're dealing with the cut in hours and pay. Can you tell the other employees that you're willing to cover for them when they can't do their shift or ask management to call you first when someone calls in sick or doesn't show??

Benefits and high minimum wages price a lot of people out of an extra job.  It hurts people in many cases and hurts the economy in a lot of cases.

Not every job in the country is capable of paying "living" wage and benefits.  So not great job goes to no job.  It really hurts the working retired, young people and people needing extra income.

Not saying right or wrong, but what happens.

I'm pretty sure Walmart can afford to pay a living wage to more full time employees. Perhaps the CEO and other execs should have their income significantly cut.

Once full time employees go to part time they no longer receive benefits. Then, workers have to apply for Medicaid and SNAP to survive. Who pays for that? Walmart? No, it's we the tax payers.  Now, I'm all for paying taxes for the common good, but why should we pay taxes to subsidize Walmart's profits and their execs' pay?

Minimum wages of $14/hr  raising to $17.50/hr at Walmart is the reason.  Retailers can't afford to pay those amounts in this economy.  No surprise there.
