WINTER STORMS COMING HERE

[ Edited ]

Tomorrow is a day of cold rain and then Sat. and Sun. we get hit with snow and freezing rain.

I can handle snow, but the freezing rain on power lines, etc. can mean power outages. No fireplace like at our house to keep warm or gas store to light for coffee (!!!!!) and food. Also had a gas grill for cooking.

We'll also have to go down the stairs (elevators out) and Molly doesn't love that many flights...poor old gal.

We'll see what happens. Yesterday (Wed.) I went to grocery stores and shelves already cleared of many essentials. They were restocking and it was getting dark, so headed home and went back early this morning and was able to puchase what I needed.

Everyone in the storm's path, please be safe.

Re: WINTER STORMS COMING HERE

Ours will be here Saturday morning into Sunday. We will get 4 to 12 inches of snow and maybe some sleet. I saw where some places could get 12 hours of freezing rain. Your right that means power outages. I hope everyone stays safe as well.

Here in Arizona we will be in the mid 60's with hopefully some rain on Saturday. The storm really doesn't affect us. We'll be lucky if we get a bit of rain.

SW Missouri here--we're going to get hit, too, starting tomorrow. Single digit temps as well as below zero temps for about a week.  Right now, they're saying 8-12 inches of snow, but I hope it will be less...a lot less.  No ice or sleet, thank goodness.  Picking up a grocery order this morning with enough groceries to get us through the end of next week.

Re: WINTER STORMS COMING HERE

Shanus, doublecheck your elevator situation. One of my building's elevators runs on a generator, which we didn’t know at first. My old dog doesn't do stairs anymore and we are on the 6th floor:/

Re: WINTER STORMS COMING HERE

That's the main reason we moved out of the Midwest. Driving on black ice, etc.

Re: WINTER STORMS COMING HERE

@tansy   Thanks for that tip, but no generator in bldg. The lights in hallways only stayed on last time for 1/2 hour and then we had to use flashlights to see to the stairs going down.

I reported that to the fire dept. and we now have a generator for lights but not the elevators. At least only 3rd. floor and little Molly weighs only 20 lbs. so I carried her during last outage.

Re: WINTER STORMS COMING HERE

I won't have the cold that many will have living here in So CA. I don't like the cold and have never liked snow.

We may have some rain today and I only fear power outages.

Stay safe everyone and post to let others know how you're doing.

Re: WINTER STORMS COMING HERE

Just some of the coldest temps in eight years, but no big storms anticipated here in the upper Midwest. We shopped for basics yesterday, and will stay close to home over the weekend.
