@qvc chick    Stay away from Carvana.  Google them and you will see lots of issues with them selling salvaged cars and tittle issues.

Enterprise or any name brand car rental company that sells their off rental vehichles are the best bet.  They are serviced, low mileage and many will still have remaining factory warranty.

My neighbor purchased off Carvana and loves his car. It's lasted 4 years and going strong. There will always be complaints about a national business...some good, some bad. I wouldn't buy from a rental business like Enterprise. Have you ever seen how rental cars are driven?

Re: WHERE IS THE BEST PLACE TO BUY LATE MODEL SUV???

I have several neighbors that have bought cars from Carvana and they had no complaints.

I'd stay away from rentals. Since Covid, they  now keep their fleet a lot longer and do not perform the required maintenance on these older cars.

Some people really abuse rental vehicles.

Re: WHERE IS THE BEST PLACE TO BUY LATE MODEL SUV???

I have always purchased new because as a child, I vividly remember having the cars break down and I was so scared. That said, I've always felt comfortable going to the dealer. I know my numbers and what I can afford. Certified used is a great choice and you can check the service records. My dealer always gets me a loaner car as I only have one car now. Reliability is the top priority for a single women. Funny the things we remember from childhood that can still effect us. I'm not the norm I'm sure!

Re: WHERE IS THE BEST PLACE TO BUY LATE MODEL SUV???

@qvc chick, with all the stories I have heard I would not purchase from Carvana (State of FL has banned them as people would wait months to get the title or even plates for car as they wouldn't send correct info to DMV).

One of the best places to search for a New or Used car is "CarFaxdotcom" - you can look up history of used cars and find out how many owners and whether it's been in an accident before).

You might want to shop around your dealerships, some now offer free oil change (this can run your $40-50 each time) for life of car, free state inspection, etc.

I don't trust Carvana. They offered me such a low price on my prior car and a local dealer paid me almost 5 times what Carvana offered.  After that, I will avoid these online dealers.

I'd still buy local. There are car sales in smaller, independent lots.

I've never had to spend hours at a dealership. Maybe things have changed in the last year since I got my car?

I'd rather fight alligators in a swamp than buy a new car.  That why I'm still driving a 2003 Saturn with only 56,000 miles that always starts.

We did buy a car from Enterprise once and it turned out to be a good car.

I love not having car payments!

I sold my 17 year old Impala with 48,000 miles on it last year to a dealer (for nearly 5 times what Carvana offered me). I didn't have to trade or buy to sell it to them.

At that time, Dad moved to assisted living, couldn't drive anymore, and gave me his car - a 2012 Malibu with 26,000 miles on it.

I'll take an old, reliable car over car payments any day.

Re: WHERE IS THE BEST PLACE TO BUY LATE MODEL SUV???

Actually, Enterprise is well known here in California for great cars. No rental car goes over 25,000 miles, they are checked and certified and given a report. Many go to auctions tho.  Auctions are good, but you need cash on the barrel then and there.  SUV's are hard to find tho, unless you are looking for smaller ones. Also, you can't touch a loaded one new here for under 80,000.   Small ones are different.  Good luck!  My favorite is the Good ol suburban, love them. We have a 2000, lower mileage that looks like new.  We also have a Fiat and a LandRover.   I love the suburban best for seat comfort. The truth is we don't use it but a few miles a month if that, lol.

Re: WHERE IS THE BEST PLACE TO BUY LATE MODEL SUV???

I wouldn't be afraid of a car dealer especially if I were buying a used car.

I'm sure they come with a warranty of some kind.

All trade-ins would be checked out by mechanics, they want to know what they're getting into when they give a price....look for issues.

I'd be more leary of a private sale and that comes from someone who's sold the last two large SUVs privately.

You never know why someone is trying to *get rid of* their vehicle.

Our explanation was easy, we were downsizing a bit (Suburban to a Tahoe--they saw it) and knew we'd get more selling it outright than trading it in.

Plus, they knew where we lived, they could come after us if there was a problem.  No problems!
