I think I need more sleep. I’m in bed by 10...reading or making a “to do” list for next day or 10 minute entry in journal. Lights out at 10:30. I’m up at 5:45-6 to begin my day...just habit. Now, most days, I find by 3PM, I’m wiped out and head for an hour nap.

Do we need more sleep as we get older?

Re: WHAT TIME DO YOU GO TO BED?

[ Edited ]

I’m not a good sleeper at all.

We go to bed very early. My husband has health issues and lately has been asleep by 8:30. I usually watch tv in bed and don’t always make it through the 9:00 show I watch weeknights.

I usually wake up between 4:30 and 5:00 and I don’t nap during the day.

Oh....and I never sleep through the night. I sleep on and off.

Why is it, when I have a 50/50 guess at something, I'm always 100% wrong?

Re: WHAT TIME DO YOU GO TO BED?

I go to bed between midnight and 1 am.  I get up around 8 or 8:30.

The only time I take a nap is when I am sick.

Fear not Brothers and Sisters! I have read THE BOOK..........we win!!!

Good Morning @Shanus   Since retireing I now get up at about 3:30AM( I love my morning time!)...  go all day..... no naps.... and eat dinner by 4PM...Never eat after dinner... and in bed and asleep  by 8PM.

For 25 years I worked the the  late shift... got home about 8PM and ate dinner really late..... HATED THAT.  Now I enjoy doing what I WANT TO and EATING AND GOING TO BED WHEN I WANT TO! It is the best part of being retired!

Re: WHAT TIME DO YOU GO TO BED?

I still work fulltime, so I go to bed by 9pm and am up by 5am...Weekends I go to bed by 10p and usually sleep if I can until 7am......We do need more sleep as we get older, I think! After working all day, and coming home and working out, and eating and cleaning, I am more than ready for bed by 9pm, sometimes sooner.....lol!

@SeaMaiden Not sure I could do 8PM, but good for you. I try not to eat after dinner, too.

Re: WHAT TIME DO YOU GO TO BED?

I've never needed a lot of sleep but as I get older (I'm 57), I try to get 7 hours of quality sleep a night.  I go to bed at 11 and my alarm clock goes off at 6am.  I always thought that people require less sleep as they age, I know my older friends have said that.  If your body needs a daily nap, take a daily nap.  Nothing wrong with that.

@chrystaltree  My Mom’s in bed by 7 and nods off all day. Yes, she’s now 90 and entitled, but she’s done this for the last 10 yrs.

Re: WHAT TIME DO YOU GO TO BED?

I just googled it and I guess as you age you need less sleep, not more as I thought! 7-9 hours of good sleep is what adults need.....

Just a suggestion:  I'd make the to-do list no later than 8 pm then forget about it  until I get up the next day.  Why go to bed thinking about what you have to do the next day?
