WHAT'S YOUR FAVORITE T'GIVING SIDE DISH?

Mine is old fashioned yam casserole w/ marshmellows. I add pecans, brown sugar (or maple syrup), pineapple chunks and mash it up and bake w/ the gooey marshmallows on top.

What's the one you go for first?

I make a salad with just steamed broccoli and cherry tomatoes and dressing. I love it.

I like sweet potatoes/yam casserole too, but we have them often, so they are not special.  No marshmallows tho.  I use oatmeal, brown sugar, butter and pecans.  Never tried pinapple....that sounds good.

@Shanus  Mine is oyster filling, and it really is the best side dish I make. However, truth be known, after everyone arrives, it's usually chardonnay! Smiley Wink

Now?  Probably the orange and cranberry relish (with a good splash of Grand Marnier) that I can eat and eat (even without the booze it is wonderful!).

I like sweet potatoes best just baked with a little salt and butter.

In the past it was my aunt's special old style southern creamed corn.  She froze kernels from the best of the summer corn for this and Christmas meals.  One year she dropped the corn coming into the house and my dad and I were depressed through December until the Christmas batch was forthcoming.  We made her husband carry it from then on.

My sisters cranberry orange relish.  Yum.   Get it once a year.

Close second is sweet potato casserole.  No marshmallows, usually a pecan topping.

@Shanus.  Never tried adding pineapple.  Can you share the recipe please?
