@Biftu I would give anything to get over this fear.I am surrounded by woods,so it's no wonder. My garage door is always down, unless leaving my patio door is always shut,so I'm baffled how this yuck got in my house.I am a neat freak, and keep a very clean house.Never any food laying around no open pet food, because I can't have pets.Just mind boggling

We had a major mouse problem when we moved here and we set traps. That's all an exterminator would do as well because they can't or should I say shouldn't set out poison because then you'd be dealing with the putrid stench of dead and decaying rats in your walls....not a pleasant smell at all believe me.
The realtor set out poison before we moved in and we had to live with the stench until they finally decomposed enough not to stink anymore....took years.
So if a cat's out then setting traps is the right thing to do.

That's a shame, because if you had a cat, you wouldn't need any traps, there wouldn't be any mice! Not necessarily. My friends cat played with them and left them lying on the floor. The cat was so proud of catching mice he would bring them in the house to show off. Obviously he was a outdoor cat.
You missed the point - mice will not come inside if they smell a cat indoors.
I have never had a mouse problem, always had cats! ![]()

A few years ago, I had the same issue! ICK. I called a local exterminator company who set traps, and more importantly, did a full inspection of the house and sealed up any and all possible access points. Have seen a few outdoors on my Blink camera coming from the neighbors, but nothing inside for years! It was a bit pricey, but well worth it. Good luck!

I think the worst part of seeing just ONE mouse is that there could be more than that one. When you see it run across the floor, or wherever, that might not be the same one you saw before. That's what is concerning. You just don't know.

The mouse problem is not your fault the fact that you are surrounded by woods is the problem, same with us. They are just everywhere in the woods/wild and they want in our houses and cars. They even nest in our cars if they sit too long.
You need to trap them all and then seal up all around your home to prevent them entering, they can squeeze through the smallest opening.
Good luck!

I have had mice in the past and I used the snapping mouse traps. I could not stand the
glue traps. My dog was an excellent mouse catcher too.
Look outside of your house for any spaces or holes in the building and caulk them. I had a hole where a pipe went into the house and caulked that. I didn't have a problem after that.
This too shall pass...

Any suggestions of getting rid of this mouse will be greatly appreciated
@Luvsmyfam I'm right there with you! I've only had a mouse twice in my house and bought those closed mouse traps so I couldn't see it. They work great and the mouse was caught in a day or two. I couldn't even pick up the trap which is completely closed. My neighbor came over and put it in the trash. You can reuse them I think but I could never open it. I was very tempted to sleep over a friend's house until it was caught. I am terrified of mice, and only mice for some reason.
@Biftu ... You mentioned the closed mouse trap... I set one of those out one time in a different house and when I checked the next day the mouse chewed through the top and got out !!!! I couldn't believe it when l saw he got out! I ended up getting him with a regular trap set with peanut butter. Mice looooove peanut butter!!
PS... l wrote mouses !!!! 😂😂 I can't believe l said that! More than one is mice so l corrected it !!

Wow! That was one strong hungry mouse. I also used peanut butter per the instructions. Luckily that didn't happen to me. I could never set a regular trap and see a dead mouse, couldn't do it.

Humane mouse trap. You can just use a shovel to throw it away.
