@Kachina624 wrote:@ECBG. I was in a rehab center for two weeks after I had knee replacement surgery in 2011. I went by ambulance right from the hospital. I live alone and had no help. I had to be referred by my doctor. You can't just walk into those places, you must have a medical referral.
If you still think it might be helpful to be in rehab, discuss it with your doctor. They are for anyone trying to recover from an accident, injury, illness or surgery.
You also have to be an inpatient in a hospital for a full three days, then transfer within three days of being discharged.
Without meeting this criteria, no rehab center is going to admit you. You would be eligible for outpatient services or even home health care in your home without an inpatient stay with a doctor referral.

Bless you. This is not an emergency. I thought I could get into a rehab not emergency room. Thank you.

This morning 2 providers told you to go the ER. In order to go to a rehab under Medicare you need to be hospitalized for 3 DAYS. Otherwise they won't pay. Since you outlined your serious health issues why the change in attitude about this not being an emergent situation? @ECBG
I assumed the rehab was easy to go to; not so. Maybe they only work with traffic victoms.
Certainly you didn't think you were just going to show up and check yourself in as if it were a hotel?
That's the impression I got when I read her other thread that she was going to a rehab facility-- but first she was going to get her haircut today.

So all the while many posters spent their time and energy offering advice, prayers, concern, well wishes and practically crying, the OP spent the day watching a movie and writing a review? Hmmm, interesting...

@Kachina624 wrote:@ECBG. Since their jobs depend on you being at home, I'm not sure you'd get an unprejudiced opinion. Your doctor would be better.
We have in-house rehab places here in our area. Very large conglomerate. Patients with need for rehab can go there for a week, 2 weeks or whatever the doctor and Rehab specialists deem appropriate. Then there are outpatient rehab units and there are rehab specialists who come to the home. Those home healthcare nurses can adjudicate the patient to need more treatment than they can give her in the home. I think perhaps that is what she is saying but I am very confused by it all. Where is her family.

I'd be more than scared if I called anyone at any time of day or night and they couldn't understand me even after trying to clarify. To me, it's a sign of a stroke.
I'm not saying that's your issue. It's just what came to mind.

Posters may not be reading far behind their post so they say mine is difficult to understand. I can't keep retyping everything over and over. Help!
I do sincerely appreciate their concern and love!

Trust me, @ECBG , your posts have been confusing and I've read every single one. You have many cyber friends who are concerned about you and are trying to offer help and advice because we care.
Often when we're sick we are not able to be our own best advocates, which is why we've been asking about your husband and family helping. Not just to help you walk, but to talk to medical professionals and get you help. You've described a number of potentially dangerous symptoms, and it sounds as if you need medical attention right away.
If your overall physical condition is as bad as you have described, please reconsider going to the ER today rather than waiting for an appointment with a physical therapist next week or whenever they can schedule you.

The er can't do anything but check vitals and give shots or x rays. I need none of that.

I did not reread all the posts....totally understand not going to ER due to
the fact they could have you sit for 8 hours among other concerns and still not see you. Posting with people on the forum you have communicated with for years can be comforting. Hope what every your health issue is resolved quick and safely.
Anyone who read your post or answered did it by their choice and sure they did not mind spending 1 minute while they were probably watching TV.
