So did ours when I had a health issue last year @ECBG . But I would have died if I had not gone. Think about it. You have lost 30 pounds, have a life threatening blood clot, swelling and are unable to stand. Call your medical team. Call someone who can advocate for you!

@ECBG< Call your Dr's ofc. Can they not offer to assist you? WHY NOT!!!   If you go to ER (i'm in S.C plan on a several hours wait. This is a disgrace.  & also in R.I.) Surely an asst or sec in Dr's  ofc could contact someone to offer you some assistance.Wish I could be of some help to you. Sligo

Have your family call your insurance and find a hospital in your network. In an emergency you can also be transferred. Your doctor's office needs to inform the ER you are on your way. That way you avoid waiting.

@ECBG

I am worried about you and feel your condition is serious.

Can your husband or another family member be contacted and help you with this.  Take you to an ER or another medical facility.

@ECBG.  Is your husband there with you to help you through all of this?  Somebody should be.  It sounds as though youre not in any condition to handle the intricacies of the nursing home admission.

How do you get to the bathroom and get your meals if you can't walk?

@ECBG

It sounds like an emergency to me.  My sister and my older friend both have had blood clots in their legs and both were admitted to the hospital for an inpatient stay and my MIL was admitted a few times for blood clots as well.

My sister ended up getting a CVT.  Blood clots are nothing to ignore.

Call your physicians office.  They should be able to assist you.

I agree, there will be a wait time in the ER, but your physician should be able to speed things up....even have someone in the ER there waiting for you.

@ECBG, I completely understand. In S.C. and R.I. we have Dr's care walkin facilities. Don't know if this would be of any help to you but you don't need an appt and there is usually not a lengthly wait.Staff has always been kind and shows courtesy. Staff consists of Dr's N.P.  I think they may also have P.T.. I have found this an easier solution then trying to get office of my PCP.   THINKING OF YOU         SLIGO
