Re: Trend of drinking coffee on the air

It doesn't bother me at all.  People on air usually have to talk a long time.  Why do they have to live by someone else's standards?  If their boss says it's ok to have a mug of water there, why is it our place to complain?  I've never seen someone on air be rude or obnoxious about taking a drink.  A little tolerance and empathy would be nice.

I am retired but work parttime in customer service at a midwest grocery store chain.  We aren't supposed to have water with us and it's miserable after a couple of hours. We talk to customers all the time and move around a lot helping them with various things.  We end up taking turns leaving our post to go get a drink.

  1. The Golden era ran from 1955 to the start of the Vietnam War. Unfortunately, we may never see times like that again. Income disparities continue to rise. I fear in another 20 years more than half the country will be impoverished. The middle class is slowly disappearing from our once great country. Ive seen many people moving overseas just to improve their standard of living.  Coffee on TV is just one small example of the "anything goes" era we live in. I just happened to mention it because within 24 hours I spotted 4 people drinking from mugs on live television.

I think the Golden Era isn't etched in stone. People have their own ideas about what would be the Golden Era.

As for a drink on live tv I think it's fine.
