I assume you mean the Odd/Even days for getting gasoline.....true boomerville....
I worked at a self serve gas station and it was actually dangerous when the gas ran out or it was closing time, or people wanted more than the limit ( 10 gallons).....and you had to put a sign on the last car in line...
All those 25 foot lont slab sided GM/Ford/Chrysler boulevard barges that took a gallon of gas to get out of the parking lot....sheeesh....
And it was no fun if you had to tell someone with the wrong number (odd on an even day and vice versa) they couldn't get gas.
That was the days when clerks were still allowed to try to corral customers who didn't play by the rules....
Not today I can guarantee you....
OT ....when I became a supervisor in the Gas Utility I worked for, I had to go to employees homes if they were out on Workers Comp injuries (where the company was paying thier way.)...to see if they were malingering or to "check their progress" at coming back to work...( early 90s)...
By the end of my career in 2013, the company was hiring private investigators with video cameras in unmarked cars to follow "disabled" employees..... "My back hurts too much to work, but I can cut and stack wood, go skiing,go hunting or put a roof on my house" ( some of the excuses from the ones who got caught.
One guy actually admitted he thought he'd "recognize a Company truck if it followed them or drove past thier homes"..
Guess they never heard of unmarked vehicles!!!
Can't even imagine doing that today.
Can you imagine doing today????
Gosh I'm SO GLAD I'm retired!!!!
I was always told because I taught high school that I had a hard job; you definitely did!

No way....teachers have my utmost respect( my uncle and my grandfather were both teachers.....LONG long time ago....and it was becoming untenable then already..they both changed careers eventually)..
..I can just imagine how much that job has changed since we ( if you're a Boomer) were in school....it's frightening....

oh my god.....I lived for my PINK princess phone, which got ripped out of the wall when my report arrived with every subject dropping 1 to 2 grades. My Tourquoise transistor radio. And who could possibly forget bell bottom pants. Could my hair get any bigger.
what I really get a kick out of is my granddaughter asking me to help with retro dressing for special days at school or Halloween.l
