Some of the items on the youtube video "Top 50 Things Only Baby Boomers Will Remember" I didn't have or do.
I did love turkey tv dinners! My dad got us a station wagon, but no wood on the side, and I didn't mind some jello and fruit if the jello was red!
The first year I taught, kind parents took our cars to gas them up on their day.

@ECBG What a trip down memory lane. I remember all of it!

@ECBG the one about 50 Top Things Only Boomers Will Remember was a big thumbs up for me. There are others in the YouTube collections. I can't recall the exact titles, but I have enjoyed videos about Christmas shopping in the 1950s; the creation of the supermarket; Sears; and foods that used to be popular. The videos may stir fond memories in boomers but have some historical significance for all ages. I'm sure that by searching the keywords, the videos should be rather easy to find. They pop up as algorithm suggestions because I have liked so many similar videos.

So many memories. I had the denim bell bottoms with white flowers. I received my first transistor radio when I broke my leg and had to be out of school for the whole 7th grade. A classmate brought it to me as a gift from my class and that thing was on all the time! Thanks for the memories!

I assume you mean the Odd/Even days for getting gasoline.....true boomerville....
I worked at a self serve gas station and it was actually dangerous when the gas ran out or it was closing time, or people wanted more than the limit ( 10 gallons).....and you had to put a sign on the last car in line...
All those 25 foot long slab sided GM/Ford/Chrysler boulevard barges that took a gallon of gas to get out of the parking lot....sheeesh....
And it was no fun if you had to tell someone with the wrong number (odd on an even day and vice versa) they couldn't get gas.
That was the days when clerks were still allowed to try to corral customers who didn't play by the rules....
Not today I can guarantee you....
OT ....when I became a supervisor in the Gas Utility I worked for, I had to go to employees homes if they were out on Workers Comp injuries (where the company was paying thier way.)...to see if they were malingering or to "check their progress" at coming back to work...( early 90s)...
By the end of my career in 2013, the company was hiring private investigators with video cameras in unmarked cars to follow "disabled" employees..... "My back hurts too much to work, but I can cut and stack wood, go skiing,go hunting or put a roof on my house" ( some of the excuses from the ones who got caught.
One guy actually admitted he thought he'd "recognize a Company truck if it followed them or drove past thier homes"..
Guess they never heard of unmarked vehicles!!!
Can't even imagine doing that today....going alone to an employees home where they might be faking it not to work.....
Gosh I'm SO GLAD I'm retired!!!!

I remember the avocado green appliances. I remember there were only three colors you could choose from. They were brown, mustard yellow and avocado green. I also remember bus drivers that had a change belt. The driver would give you change in coins. That eventually stopped because the drivers were being assaulted and robbed. I also remember double features at the local movie theater.
