Hello my friends! Today's blessings - Alyssa finally had a BM tonight - 4 days! What a blessing. Also it was a blessing to read your posts and your advice for Alyssa. Greg did give her one ounce of apple juice last night. She did get back to her medicine for acid reflux because she needed it, but all is well now, and thanks, friends, for your concern and prayers, and now she is well again! Another blessing was when Lori came over this afternoon and helped me with the twins. Greg made us taco salads - lettuce, refried beans, some tomato, some salsa, shredded cheese, avacado and sour cream. It was delicious! Darla was sleeping at the time, and she came up a bit later and we had a nice time together with Lori.
Another long day today, but that's fine, it was all worth it. We aren't doing an overnighter this week.
Thank you all who posted - I just don't have time to respond to each of you, but I appreciate them all. I have a lot to do yet tonight before going to bed.
Tomorrow I'm going to make a tuna fish hot dish for them.
Here's a story -
UNCONDITIONAL LOVE
-- Author Unknown
A story is told about a soldier who was finally coming home after
having fought in Vietnam. He called his parents from San Francisco.
"Mom and Dad, I'm coming home, but I've a favor to ask. I have a
friend I'd like to bring home with me."
"Sure," they replied, "we'd love to meet him."
"There's something you should know the son continued, he was hurt
pretty badly in the fighting. He stepped on a land mind and lost an
arm and a leg. He has nowhere else to go, and I want him to come live
with us."
"I'm sorry to hear that, son. Maybe we can help him find somewhere to
live."
"No, Mom and Dad, I want him to live with us."
"Son," said the father, "you don't know what you're asking. Someone
with such a handicap would be a terrible burden on us. We have our own
lives to live, and we can't let something like this interfere with our
lives. I think you should just come home and forget about this guy.
He'll find a way to live on his own."
At that point, the son hung up the phone. The parents heard nothing
more from him. A few days later, however, they received a call from
the San Francisco police. Their son had died after falling from a
building, they were told. The police believed it was suicide. The
grief-stricken parents flew to San Francisco and were taken to the
city morgue to identify the body of their son. They recognized him,
but to their horror they also discovered something they didn't know,
their son had only one arm and one leg.
The parents in this story are like many of us. We find it easy to love
those who are good-looking or fun to have around, but we don't like
people who inconvenience us or make us feel uncomfortable. We would
rather stay away from people who aren't as healthy, beautiful, or
smart as we are. Thankfully, there's someone who won't treat us that
way. Someone who loves us with an unconditional love that welcomes us
into the forever family, regardless of how messed up we are.
Tonight, before you tuck yourself in for the night, say a little
prayer that God will give you the strength you need to accept people
as they are, and to help us all be more understanding of those who are
different from us!!

I've been reading about the growth of your DGDs and at 3 months, I'm hoping their sleep and feeding schedule has evened out. I can't help but wonder though if your daughter might be suffering from post-partum depression. It's very, very common. I hope she is able to be up and about soon.

Good morning, I hope you all have a great day!
Having had a few experiences with suicide, I found today's OP story somewhat difficult to read, even though there is a message there.

What a thought provoking story, @gloriajean. At the beginning of the story, I thought to myself...'gee, I'd probably feel the same way about someone living with me with such limitations'. Then it occurred to me that the son was talking about himself.
The son didn't give his parents or himself enough credit, though. There are strengths we can find within ourselves to help loved ones instantly, whereas, with strangers, it might take a moment. The son didn't give his parents that opportunity. Obviously, he was going through extreme mental, emotional anguish and decided he was doing himself and others a favor by committing suicide.
Enjoy your day everyone.

I am glad all is well with you, GloriaJean.
The story about this young man was so thought-provoking. So many years ago, one of my neighbors took her own life. I was working at the time, and I never had the chance to know her well. I have since heard of a few other tragic happenings. I guess it has made me very careful to listen to any warning signs when someone I know is going through a terrible time.

Nancy - thanks - today's another big day! 3 in a row. Allie is fine, no more bm's so far, but at least she had one last night. I'll rest for sure when I get home!
