Yes, walking up the stairs. I've never understood why those that are purchasing their "forever home", buy a multi-level home. That would be the first thing I'd think about. Around here, most multi level homes have the master at ground level, which I think is very wise.
Luckily my friend's forever multilevel home has an elevator for when they get older (I use it now when I visit).

Hmmm I just turned 70 and I have nothing that hurts my back! I hope you all are joking about simple tasks that hurt your back? Really?

@ID2 ... You are so lucky that nothing hurts your back! I read many years ago that back problems are the number one complaint people have going to the doctor. It's so easy to hurt your back.
Many years ago when l was in my 30's, l took an aerobics class. Well...one of the exercises was...and this is what I've called it for years..."Do as many sit ups as you possibly can!" So l ended up killing my back. Not only did l do the sit ups in class l would do them again at home. Big mistake!
Going forward 40 years, I'm 75, doing most things hurt my back as others have said... but at least now my back doesn't hurt in bed. I stay in one position on my side using pillows and fall asleep that way.
Again, you're very lucky nothing bothers your back!!

Add pulling wet clothes out of the washer (top loader), throwing them into the dryer and then taking them out of the dryer.
Also, filling and emptying the bottom rack of the dishwasher.

I try to avoid climbing stairs.......When I do, seems as though my one knee bothers me. Gel ice packs with a paper towel near my knee work well.
Also, stairs can be dangerous. Especially the stairs that aren't carpeted. Lots of sharp, hard steps.
Be careful, everyone.

Sounds like you're going through a rough period right now. I'm sorry. Mom would say, "this too shall pass".
