There was a beautiful poem today or yesterday

Either on here or Community chat I think. It was about a missing your mother. Now I cannot find it. Does anyone know where it is? Thanks

Hello, @happycat!  Google “Rock Me to Sleep, Mother” by Elizabeth Akers Allen. It’s beautiful, but sad.

You are welcome!  I can’t remember the thread or the poster who mentioned it, but I remembered the first line.

Re: There was a beautiful poem today or yesterday

@happycat  This is the poem that I posted earlier today in What is the one thing you would like for Christmas

Backwards turn backwards Oh time in your flight

Make me a child again Just for tonight

And mother come back from your echo-less shore

And hold me again to your heart as of yore

Sooth from my body the burdens of care

And run your hand softly over my hair

And over my slumber your loving watch keep

Oh mother come back and rock me to sleep

Mother dear mother the years have been long

Since I last heard you sing your lullaby song

I have been waiting and I've been watching for you

Hoping that one day we could start like new

And then when we meet I shall nevermore weep

For oh mother once again you can rock me to sleep

Re: There was a beautiful poem today or yesterday

I entered the first 2 lines in response to the "What would you want for Christmas?".   That was all I knew of the poem!  Thank you for the entire piece!
