I am 2 miles east from the WA border so HOT here too.

I am worried about fires too,we have been putting down water all around the outside of our lawn/yard areas too.

There is a fire about 25 miles from us now.

My house burned down in 1993 so we are really wary.

@spud188    Oh that is so scary for you I bet. I pray you are safe this yearHeart

@SeaMaiden

I have been doing nothing but watering.  I have several new plantings this year and they have been watered twice a day and are still drooping. I have put out two new soaker hoses for a temp fix but that does not seem to be working and it is only going to get hotter!

Re: The unusual heat coming to the Pacific NW area OH MY!

I live in MA.  We have central ac, in our previous home we had window ac units.  But we didn't use them much because we only got Temps in the mid 80s and higher a few days in the summer, we almost never got up to 100.  That has changed.  Real hot weather starts earlier and lasts through September now.  Air conditioning is a necessity.  If people don't have it and don't want to buy window units, fans are their only option.  I don't know what a heat pump is.

Please...your heat is a DRY heat. In a few days you will be back to your typical temps.

i spent 3 weeks in May in Whidbey Island. The last 2 days were close to 80.  hot, no humidity! The rest of the time i FROZE in the 50s every day.   they don't turn on the heat. They take babies out in -50-60 degree weather, no coat, shorts, no socks no jacket. i wore a down coat most of the time.

sorry try 7 days straight 90s HHH. HOT HAZY HUMID. TROPICAL. Rinse Repeat

Today's predicted heat in Seattle area... up to 115 degrees possible... right now it is not  yet 9AM and it is over 80 degrees... it did not cool off last night much at all... by noon they say it will be 100 degrees.... Be careful everyone affected by this! Take care of yourself and your pets!

Stay safe everyone - I just got back from the store & it's already 82 here in Bellingham but I know you all in Seattle & south are expecting 113 I think they said.

I lost power last night (Kirkland) at 6:45 pm and it did not come back on for a few hours.  A very warm night!
