A week or so ago I post about my daughter having severe post partum depression and asked for prayers. I am so thankful for the prayers and so happy to report she is much better now. The doctor put her on a medication called Zurzuvae which is apparently fairly new. The doctor had to verify the absolute need for the medication because for a 14 day, 1 pill a day the cost is astronomical !!!. The copay was $350 !! It was worth it to see my daughter smile again, no longer having suicidal thoughts and able to care for herself and her family. She hasn't completed the 14 day script yet but it's working. Thank you all again for your prayers !

@Goodie2shoes so happy it worked. Heard it is the first medication for post partim depression. To me when a new mom suffers like that, it is so worth it when it works. They used to give it only by infusiums ....and it was a 60 HOUR infusiun! if you can believe that. I am glad the pills are a 14 day regimen. Great for your daughter. No one deserves to feel like that, especially with a new child.

Thank you and glad you know about the medication. She says it makes her a little drowsy but she's still able to stay alert. 60 hr infusion? wow ! The costs for the medication I believe is very nearly around $16,000 for a 2 week dosage, her husband works for the hospital so they have great insurance. My granddaughter is doing great and she's up to 9 lbs now. And she's smiling !!

So very grateful that your daugher is doing so well and so quickly! Zurzuvae sounds like a miracle drug for sure. Her documented success will lead the way to help many mothers and their new borns in the future.
Also, so very grateful your granddaughter is thriving and happy. Sure hope she is able to snuggle up with her mom real soon, if not already.
As it should be, all is well and headed towards a normal mom and daughter relationship. There will be spirited "discussions" at some point! 🙂

@Bella8888, thanks and yes, she is now able to care for my granddaughter, she snuggles with her and takes lots of pictures.

That is absolutely wonderful news! I'm so glad for your daughter, you, and her family.
I've never suffered with ppd and can't even imagine the devastating effect it has on a person and their loved ones. It's hard enough taking care of a new baby, but to add that to the mix is unthinkable.
It's a disgrace that the drug should be so expensive. Shame on the drug companies.
