@shoekitty    I don't have a garbage disposal either .  I had k e in my other home and always had  an issue.  When I moved into this hone I had my disposal removed.   I have a special drain receptacle which  catches debris which I then put in a composting receptacle

@Teddixat  is the drain receptacle in the sink, or attached to a drain...that sounds interesting. I am just so tired of this. Getting new sewers from house to street required digging up very extensive digging uo of professionally landscaped yard, and mature trees.  Even the outside trap, that comes with most homes we had to install. It was like 7,000.   I just don't want to replac esewers, so I play it safe here.  It is pretty easy and becomes habit

@shoekitty    It is not attached.  I actually bought two basket toe drains for both sinks.  They are easily removed to dump them.  But if I'm doing a lot of cleaning of veggies etc, I use a larger basket.  I got them on amazon.  They are called

I have a garbage disposal but I don't put anything down in it. A plumber once told me don't put anything down there, just a few crumbs here and there when rinsing out dishes.

@shoekitty

Tell your grands to bag their dirty t/p and seal it up when done and place in an outside garbage can.

Put a note in the bathroom to remind them.  Under no circumstances are they to flush it.  If they or anyone else cries foul say too bad, check into a hotel.

Why a flush for using so much toilet paper wipes for a simple urination?

One simple wipe with a  slice would be sufficient, or better yet just wipe with a tiny face towel, and rinse that again for next use, no big deal.

Now on bowel movements of course, but for most how many more than a few can one have in a day? Then yes mostly necessary.

When Covid was around back in 2020, the beautician came to the house and she was from Russia originally.  She laughed and said whats wrong with these people with the hoarding, just use a washable little cotton facecloth and clean it.  That's it, simply stock up on a few of those, if you have to and do not panic,  ha.

I think this would really help the environment as well. .Smiley Very Happy

@Teddixat  the sink strainer and food catcher you recommended worked so well. My husband was impressed .  Today I just ordered one for the other side of sink.  We had these strainers in drain, but these catch more stuff. Thanks for the idea
