Re: The CA Thread - NO, SO and In-Between

@DiAnne

You live in a beautiful part of the world.  We are heading for Seattle

for a visit in a few days.  We have a son and his family living there.

We enjoy everything about your area.  I don't mind the rain or

the grey skies; my husband struggles a little more with that.

I also want to add that we love all the parks in Seattle.

On this trip, I plan to have some fried clams at Ivar's.

What do you all think about the new CA law, that pet stores can only sell rescues?   I love it!

We got a bit of rain last night, it was more than welcome. Today it has been a bit cold and cloudy.

I love the change of seasons up here. Well...not summer so much but the rest of the seasons.

@september

It was a bit cooler today, and I liked that!  Just watched the evening news, and it might be unusually warm sat-mon

Just when I want to go to a hot place :-(

@september, it’s been that way for in the City of LA since 2012; I’m delighted it’s now statewide. Loved the photo of Colusa Brown, CA’s First Dog, watching Dad sign the law.

It’s at least one way to help put puppy mills out of business. Some city shelters will have a small “shop” in a mall - not sure if they get a deal on the rent; most likely.

The local mall to my house in LA was a big one for puppy mill dogs (and purebred cats) costing in the high hundreds. They were picketed, agreed to stop selling puppy mill dogs, then didn’t stop, then did, and were soon gone from the mall.  Near my house was a free-standing mini-shelter/shop that was always full of people. LA has a huge number of independent rescues and fosters. They hope to be No Kill for all shelters by early next year.

okay....remember this place? I love it! I lived in West Covina until I was 13 and we went there often. I make their red cabbage salad all the time as well as their famous cheese spread. Soooo good.

One of my favorite restaurants. I  always went to the one in La Mirada.  The salad (comes with 2 bowls, one red cabbage) and the garlic-cheese bread. yum!

Remember Chris & Pitts? I wish they would still sell their bbq sauce in the grocery stores. The one in Anaheim is closed.

I have to say, I'm not even sure if where I live, pet stores can sell puppy or kitty mill pets?  I think not...it seems they are all rescues.  I look at these babies when I buy my cat food, but don't want to get tempted to bring home a new one!
