Re: The Bee Hive -- Winter 2020 Edition

@just bee

You know, you could always rent out an extra bedroom or two.

After the dog is gone, I'll hitchhike out and we can form our own generational communal home.

In fact, you could advertise:

"Completely renovated group home.  Lovely gardens with flora and fauna in abundance.  Home cooked meals.  Licensed RN on premises 24 hours.  Just will us over your last dollar and everything will be taken care of for the rest of your life."

"Which may not be a long one..."

(That last line is the fine print that no one bothers to read.)

They're going to start referring to us as the Gruesome Twosome.

@just bee

Start? 🤣

Probably.  That is if we don't get banned for life first.🤭

I've exhausted my cleverness quotient for the day.

I'm outta here for the night...

See ya!

I'm going to have a glass of wine and watch an uplifting film.

The Remains of the Day.

And, on that note, I'm signing off!

Oh my goodness. You are all very pessimistic recently.
Well, so am I... We definitely have the same outlook on things.
Gaslighting is absolutely what we are seeing.
Don't like much lately and feel like things are not turning out well, anywhere.
Looks like the capital is a military base. Just and observation. Why?.... something up? Just thinking.

Drink something for me too. I could use one glass or perhaps straight Vodka. I need a new vice....

Weird is what I am seeing. No common sense anywhere.
Throw it out the window...
I am sick of crazy 😩 just ranting...
Brisk out for the night....
Grim reaper is appropriate.
Yes, I used to be optimistic once in awhile. But not lately..

It seems that FB is the place where most of the latter post any new pertinent necessary information.  Must be easier to do that than to update their websites.

So, I don't like perpetuating something I don't like, but yet I now feel it's become necessary for me to function adequately.  🤬

I keep hoping that others feel the same and find a way to change some of this, but I think I have a better chance of chasing rainbows.🌈

@geezerette

I started noticing the problem back when I was beginning work on my nursing degree.  That was in the neighborhood of 2006 to 2008.

Back in school after a long absence and instructors we're telling us to communicate with them via FB and Twitter.

That was a problem.  Not every student had FB or Twitter.

I still don't.

And I'm horrified to see that websites are becoming useless.  I go there for information about a product or a business and all the current information is on FB.

Just sayin'.

@just bee

It's true, there are things that are on facebook that are difficult or impossible to get otherwie. Nevertheless, I closed my account a few years ago, and have no regrets. It was simply a matter of the things I liked about FB being less than the things I didn't like. Mostly, it just took a lot of time to keep up, and yielded relatively little value for the investment.

Every now and then, I am sorry to miss something that's only on FB. But, like cable tv, it doesn't happen often. I use a few streaming channels, subscribe to podcasts, still exchange emails and texts with people I care about, and am on some great mailing lists. It's more than enough!

It's not that I think FB or cable TV or things like that are bad, or a bad idea. Not at all. If you like them, that's great. But if it's feeling you aren't getting enough good from them, don't be afraid to bow out. It turns out not to be a very big deal. JMO

I just wanted to say thanks again guys, for all the nice thoughts/words. I feel like you're the closest thing to friends I have right now. I sure would miss not being able to talk to you, but sometimes we just gotta make hard choices.

Off to start the day, I'll try to check in tomorrow.

@geezerette - Yes, me too. I'd love to leave Facebook, but for right now, it's the only platform for communicating easily with certain people. Plus like you, I do get some really good information from some of the groups that I am in. So until they come up with an alternative, I feel like I'm kind of stuck for now. But I can limit my usage.
