Oh well.  It's always something.

If it wasn't this, it would be something else to have to deal with.

Could be worse.  And it probably will be before it's all over with.

Cheery soul this morning, aren't I?🤕🥺😂

@geezerette

You have company!

I'm still in cynical mode.  When we had our New Year's toast at work I just wanted to yell:

WAKE UP AND SMELL THE COFFEE!!!!!

But I noticed that everyone was so quiet that it seemed more appropriate to keep my opinion to myself.

@just bee

Funny you should use those exact words.  They bring up another one of my New Year's Resolutions.

I vow to no longer voice my opinion--about anything.  In fact, I intend to take it to another level--I vow to no longer even have an opinion about anything.  (Or at least try not to.)

I'm on opinion overload.

I'm going to concentrate on dealing with things I can control.  And as you point out, many of the people that I disagree with are people I know, like, love, and/or need.  I either want or need to get along with them.

And besides, mine are either attacked, ignored, or misunderstood, so why bother at all?

The same thing happens with my humor.  So I guess I'll keep that to myself from now on too.

@geezerette

I love what you are saying. I often remind myself to declitter my own opinions. They're often not worth the space they take up in my head! 😬 As for what I can control, that would be...nothing. Maybe what I pay attention to.

@KaySD

I can control what I put in my mouth.  And how much I move.

At least, I'm hoping I can.

@geezerette - Yep, I think that's maybe why I finally stuck to my diet last year, I could control that at least.

@rnmom

Yup.

I used to use the Alba Botanica lotion when we lived in the desert.  It was one of the first body lotions I had ever used.

I liked it better than the others I could find, partly because it was one of the few that I could find in those days that was unscented.  And not greasy.  I used it for quite a few years.

I bought it at a local health food store (which was relatively expensive) until they quit carrying it.  This was before Amazon or all the online options, so I had to go with something else after that.

@rnmom

@geezerette

Vitacost seems to have to best price but you have to spend $50 to get free shipping.  So you stock up.  I'm going to hold off until I know for sure that a stock-up is a good idea.

@just bee - Yes, you're right, and actually I haven't ordered from Vitacost in a while just for that reason. I've actually been ordering from iherb because you can get free shipping at only $20. I haven't checked to see if they carry Alba brand though, or how much it might cost.

@rnmom

Vitacost has a better selection and much lower prices.

I'll keep using what I have and if I decide that these are the products that work for me, I might go ahead and stock a few bottles.  BH can say whatever he likes because I have the ability to let... it... go.

If I didn't, I would have throttled all my coworkers last night. Woman Wink

Justbee you can have as much as you would like ,the rain fall is really been heavy. Trace of snow, all rain. ground is soggy you sink down when you walk on it.

ok later guys

@viva923

Perfect, because we don't have any precipitation in the forecast this month.  Just cold and dry.

@just bee

Along with @viva923's rain, I'll volunteer to send you some of our humidity and clouds.

Overnight express.

Keep them as long as you'd like.

@geezerette

Got plenty of clouds but none of them block the sun.  If I could send some sunshine your way, I would.  No shortage here.

Think you'll ever come back this way?

@just bee -I'd sure love some sunshine. That's one of the reasons why the winters here are so depressing. It's only partly the cold, but a lot of it is the fact is that the sun rarely comes out. Very depressing after weeks and weeks.

@rnmom

That's one big reason my husband hated living there.  But then, he hated the cold too.  Or I should say he hated it cold and humid.  Cold and dry wasn't a problem.

I agree that when it's overcast for several days in a row it's depressing.  I've noticed that a lot lately.  It definitely has a direct effect on my outlook.  But then when we lived in the desert by the middle of summer I was wishing for some clouds.  I got to hate waking up every morning to a cloudless sky!

That sounds ridiculous to me now, but it wasn't then.

@geezerette -As I'm sitting here I'm trying to even remember when was the last time I saw sun and I can't remember, so it's been at least a few days again We maybe have sunshine once a week, if we're lucky. It does get very depresssing, and like your OG I hate the cold, I hate the clouds, I'd love some warm sunshine every day! I could celebrate Christmas with a palm tree!

@rnmom

It’s official: 2020 is over and we’re in a new year. Did anyone’s life magically get better when that calendar year switched?

Probably not, but there can be something refreshing about feeling like your eyes are on the future and the improvements that come with it. Did you know almost 98% of your body’s cellular structure is renewed every year? What did you do to assist your body through your digestive tract to ensure that all the new cells produced are of the best quality?

At the same time, you may be feeling disappointed with where you are in some ways. Many of us overindulged through the social isolation that came with most of 2020, or with the last 2 months of holidays. Some of us feel a little lost in terms of knowing what we should really focus on to get back on track

If you feel inundated with ads for weight loss products, cleanses, fad diets, fasting, expensive gym equipment, and promises that seem too good to be true… take a step back. The answer to feeling better is NOT in the next fad diet. The answer to getting your energy back is NOT at the end of a weekly juice cleanse. The answer to a fresh start for 2021 is NOT by depriving yourself of all the foods you love.

Instead, take small steps that can add up to big progress:

Pick sustainable choices like drinking more water, having enough protein and fiber at every meal, or doubling the servings of veggies you eat every day.

@geezerette

1. Drink more water

2. Make sure you have enough protein and fiber in your meals

3. Double the serving of vegetables you eat (the daily double)

4. Walk!

5. Move more, stretch more

Those are 5 doable things.  And none involve sacrifice or denying yourself something you like.

Your email message makes sense.  Turning each of these into a habit is more helpful than radical changes to your diet and lifestyle.

It helps to reduce the "bad" stuff if you are eating, drinking or doing something "bad" too often.  Just do that less.

Again, keeping certain things out of the house is helpful.

@just bee - This is kinda what I've tried to do over the last year.

Eat better, more fruits and veggies, cut out a lot of junk food, but of course, not all.

Move more, even if it's a ten minute walk if I'm at work at a desk all day

Take my vitamins, try to drink more water, just simple things that hopefully make me feel better.

It seems to be working for the most part. My knee still doesn't bother me a year later.

@rnmom

@geezerette

Aye, so that's how she did it.  We have the secret!

Your actions of the last many months are what prompted me to post the email.  It's not the first time I've read or heard that advice for long-term success, but it sort of consolidated much of it.  And it dawned on me that that is exactly what you said you had been doing--and ended up having success by doing it.  Perhaps more success than you had originally intended!  So you are a prime example that it can work and something similar could be adopted and adapted by those of us that are still struggling.

I know that for myself, I started moderating my routine at the beginning of the year and while I will admit that the first couple of days were rough, shortly after that I began to reap small rewards.

A lot, or most, or maybe even all of it depends on our attitude.  And we all have different points at which we are finally spurred to take action.

So, I'm holding you up as a role model!  🙂🏆

What is it about squirrels?

BH has a special talent.  He can talk squirrel.  He can make squirrel sounds and refers to squirrels as squistles.  Because they make a squistle sound.

WGD knows the sound and he knows the word "squistle."

And we tease him about his squirrelfriends.
