Re: The Bee Hive -- Winter 2020 Edition

I just ate my last Christmas cookie -- an orange and cranberry concoction.

I've been pacing myself.

Re: The Bee Hive -- Winter 2020 Edition

I'd posted that I'd put away all my received Christmas cards (usually display them well into the New Year as this is my only form of holiday decor), but then BH checked the mail and found one from my sister right before the New Year.

Nope -- she wasn't late.  We just don't check our mail very often.

So my project for the day is to put away the final holiday greeting, walk the dog, do some laundty, tackle the dishes (we made curry last night), take a bottle of bourbon over to our former neighbor's new house, go to the grocery store (BH went last night to get a tub of cottage cheese and it was minutes before closing so the dairy aisle was blocked by stock and stockers so he asked one to grab a tub for him and they did but he didn't notice until he got home that it was sour cream), and whatever else we need to do before tomorrow.

So there!  Tired of @viva923 making me feel like such a slug.  Woman Wink

So glad to see you back @Brisky.  So sorry to hear about your mom but like others have said, you did the best for her. It is such a hard decision especially in this enviornment where navigating anything is pretty tough. We are at that point as well but we still are struggling with the decision on my father.  He does require probably more medical care than what we can offer him at home and he is really making life a bit miserable because of stubborness on all things equally, but we are trying to keep him at home as long as we possibly can, especially for my mom. She starts to feel very alone and it is not good for her.  Her mental state is already a bit diminished and we worry that will get worse. One's own mortality sets in.

The best to you and as @rnmom, said, now is the tiime to take better care of yourself knowing that your mom will be taken care of. I am sure it will take you a minute to decompress.

Re: The Bee Hive -- Winter 2020 Edition

So has anyone seen that new Dove commercial that says your skin is a beautiful reflection of everything you've been through -- or some such thing?

So why aren't lines, spots and saggy skin a beautiful reflection of everything we've been through?

Inquiring minds want to know.

Oh, boy!  No wonder you've been keeping such a low profile.  You've got a ton on your mind right now.

I would just like to be able to purchase items without having these debates with myself every time I want to take a shower.

Am I just cranky?

@just bee, No, it is not just you. Why cant purchasing products just be easy. Its important to support companies that you think are doing things right, our dollars are the vote.  I go through the same thing with animal cruelty free. Just when you find a line that is okay, then they get sold. I bought items that are not cruelty free and it dawned on me shortly after I clicked submit. I have felt guilty ever since. I dont want to feel guilty over that. It is just one more feeling I can do without.

It is important for me to go cruelty free where I can, so I will keep mindful going forward where products are concerned. But these days, companies are so wrapped up in their own agendas, you have to do research just to see if you agree.  I really just want to go to the store and buy what I need with exhaustive research. I think I used to like the research and comparing costs and all that at one point, I really dont enjoy it anymore.  I want certain things to just be simple.
