Re: The Bee Hive -- September 2024 Edition

@geezerette

@just bee - We bought two watermelons this summer and neither one had a whole lot of flavor. We usually look forward to getting some melon in the summer because we only get them for a couple months a year. These were disappointing. They were on sale this past weekend again for labor day and I didn't get another one. I think next year if I get a hankering for something like that I'll go to a local produce stand.

I'm always reminded of the roadside melons we saw when we first moved here.

We drove past a truck full of them that had a big sign on it:

Watermelons blessed by Jesus!

BH said they must have been walk-on-watermelons.

Sheesh, what a morning so far.

Junior cat got outside after a baby bunny.  Dog went after a deer that was in the driveway.  Then she proceeds to go after the bunny while the two cats are going nuts in the house.

I'm not sure this cool weather is such a good thing after all.  Oh well, it won't last much longer.

I'm exhausted already.😮‍💨

@geezerette

Sounds like Carla and the cats had a great morning! Woman LOL

@just bee

Oh, they did.😠

But that wasn't the end of it.  I later found that Senior Cat had been impatient once again and left me a present on the rug instead of finishing everything in his box.

So then it was clean up time.  From him and Junior Cat who had injured one of his little pads from his adventure and left blood everywhere.

Fun times.

I was really disappointed in the melons this year.  I figured with the heat and rain we had it would have been a stellar year.  But it didn't seem to be at all.

I think I just need to start enjoying food that has no flavor.

I was getting depressed because I was thinking my GI issues were exacerbated by spicy food.

I'd hoped I could delay the bland diet for a few more years.

Strangely, the spicy beef and pico de gallo BH made this week are not causing any issues.

I'm wondering now if it's not the spice but rather the stress.

Off work this week...

It's still early.  Maybe everyone's worn out and they'll nap the rest of the day. Woman LOL

Re: The Bee Hive -- September 2024 Edition

Now there's a sobering thought.

I've often said how much I enjoyed the music my parents listened to when I was in high school.  Glenn Miller, Benny Goodman.  For them it was what they listened to 35 years prior.

I'm listening to yacht rock this morning.  The song playing now is 50 years old.

The dog is, but she's due for her monthly pain injection so I imagine she's feeling the repercussions from her earlier exploits.

The cats have got the birds under surveillance now.  Senior has a wren he's stalking, while Junior is monitoring the bluebirds in the back yard.

It's a big responsibility to keep track of all that's going on around here, which I'm sure they'll use as an excuse to beg for extra food.😼

@just bee

That sounds like how I think.

Someone says something about "20 years ago" and I'm thinking 1980s.
