Re: The Bee Hive -- November 2022 Edition

I'll join the hive! Charming images you shared, especially the cats.

Since apparently, you are a bee person, have you followed the Washington state effort to eradicate those murder hornets, which prey on bees? It's quite a concerning problem.

I know officials were working to destroy nests in 2020 and 2021.  Have they seen their efforts pay off in 2022?

Re: The Bee Hive -- November 2022 Edition

A new month and it's time to replace items that need replacing.

Starting November with a new toothbrush and a new Magic Eraser.  Used the old one to clean the microwave this morning.

It's 8:30 and 39 degrees in Albuquerque.

On today's agenda:

Animals Vote Too!

And then laundry and some online training for work.

How's the new month going for you?

[ Edited ]

May I announce a return of the honey bees to my holly bush this year.  I only saw 3 yesterday, but for about 12 years, not one bee that I saw returned.  I asked them to tell their friends there's a big holly bush loaded with little flowers where they can have a field day.

There are more red berries on it now than I have seen in a long time, still not enough to use branches for Christmas, though.  Will check again at the end of November.

YAY!!!!

Re: The Bee Hive -- November 2022 Edition

How's the new month going for me so far?  Strangely.

I had to go to my insurance agent's office this morning since I received a weird bill for one of my policies yesterday.

I check online to see when the office opens.  8am.  So I show up about 9:30 and the door is locked and lights are off.  🤬  I turn around, headed back to my car and the agent unlocks the door and comes out to let me in.

He explains he has to keep the door locked because of some crazy druggie in the neighborhood going around trying to get into the offices in that little complex.  Huh?  In this little town?  You've got to be ____ing me!😧

As we're talking about the screw up in the policy billing, he tells me about two other calls he took just this morning that people had to change their account numbers on file because of hacking.  WTF?!

He checks to make sure my policies and billing information are still like they should be in his records (they are).  Why the strange bill?  Who knows--not him, he just works there.  Must be another computer glitch.

Geez Louise.  It's even happening here.😵‍💫

Re: The Bee Hive -- November 2022 Edition

I'm not sure what is going on now, but I did watch a documentary on invasive creatures, especially the lion fish off the coast of Florida, and in that show they did a segment on those hornets.  I think Washington feels they are early detecting this and hopeful for success.  Maybe they can get some sort of sterile hornets or some other approach to combat them.  We need bees not hornets!

On my bucket list is to help out with bee hives, wearing that protective gear and looking inside, maintenance, caring for the hives, etc.  Someday, maybe.
