Re: The Bee Hive -- June 2022 Edition

So the poor thing had two teeth pulled, I feel awful.

When she got home she was zonked out.  They sent her home with 5 vials of meds for pain.  My daughter gave her one this morning in some of the gravy in her canned food.  She lapped it up.  I worried all night that she wouldn't take her meds.

They expressed her again (3rd or 4th week in a row).   Paperwork said 'both glands full and easy to express'.

I don't think she expresses naturally, jmho.  I cannot do it.  I just can't.

So, I have a bill for $837 for all.  Gulp.  The mother cat goes next Thurs.  I guess I'll be down there to take her.  We aren't going to be able to bring them to Jersey till the 18th.

Too many "just this once" buys, and a whole lot of stuff (mainly from Walmart, which includes food) that I just have been automatically reaching for for years.  Now all that stuff is more expensive every time I shop.

Well, that's got to stop.  I've got to drastically tighten my belt or I won't have any belt left by the time I need it in another few years.

And I have everybody's annual vet visits and shots in the next two months too.  Boy, has it gotten expense to have even cats anymore!  This is definitely going to be my last dog, and quite possibly cats as well, just from the expense aspect.  At least the dog is in that sweet spot of her life that she's finally turned into a wonderful dog.  I'll enjoy it before she gets old and cranky.

Like me. 😒

You love her!

Okay, I'll admit it...now I love her. 🥰😆

Well... I just have to think that the removal of two teeth that may have been causing your kitty some pain could only be a good thing.

You helped her.

My mother used to express the glands of a dog we had in the 70s and early 80s.

One of the things I'll always admire about her.

Me?  I'll leave that to the professionals.

Honestly, two teeth removed isn't bad.  Especially if this is her first dental.  She'll perk up when the anesthesia wears off.  She just might prefer soft food for a few days.

As far as the glands go, if she expresses easily, I'd just keep taking her in to have it done on a regular basis.  Better that than risking surgery, in my opinion.

Excuse the graphic text, but one of my cats seems to express himself okay, but it just sticks on his behind.  So every once in a while when I see it's getting gross, I wipe him down with a warm towel.  Let's just say it's not his favorite activity.🫢🫣🤕
