Re: The Bee Hive -- July 2024 Edition

@just bee

I saw a sign today for Georgia peaches, but it was already too darn hot to go to an outside fruit stand.  I checked the store, but theirs were still generic.  I'll wait.  If I miss them, that's okay.

I did buy another watermelon.  Usually I can only manage one decent one per season, but this year I have gotten two so far.  I might be pressing my luck with this one, but when it's so hot some really cold and juicy pieces of watermelon hit the spot.

I watch the food shows here on QVC every once in a while and have been tempted on occasion to order the salmon.  But it's just so expensive.  And with my luck I'd have a batch in the freezer and my refrigerator or electricity would konk out.  And like your peaches, the price just stops me every time.

I used to get salmon from my friends whose neighbor owns a meat market here and it was delicious.  But since the pandemic the prices have been so high he doesn't give it away like he used to.

My potato chips were on sale today.😉

I didn't buy any Italian mineral water at Costco today.  I've been drinking a lot of it -- and really enjoying it, too -- but it bothers me to spend money on water.  And I don't need all the plastic bottles.

Back to drinking RO water.

But not in my tea! Woman Tongue

I don't buy water either anymore.  And I never went in for any of the flavored ones, especially not carbonated.

I'm so happy that you mentioned the Brita.  It's so easy to fill up, which I do several times a day.  And it's cheaper than my refrigerator water filter but does the same thing.  I had to get a couple of gallons of distilled water the other week and I was shocked at how much plain gallons are now.

I depend on Brita for my tea water.  And I finally found a pitcher that has been a dependable design.

I do admit I don't change the filters as frequently as I should...

I usually wait until I notice a difference in my tea.

Clearly I haven't been paying attention.

When did wide-leg jeans make a comeback?

They've been back for a while.  But it seems the girls that do wear them (older, not teens) are very tall and slender.

The teens here, if they're wearing long pants are wearing baggy, ill-fitting grey sweatpants. They roll them down to their bikini line and wear skimpy tops.

But imagine, it's summer, it's hot and there they are in sweatpants.

Re: The Bee Hive -- July 2024 Edition

I got up off the couch and walked 4 miles on the beach.  Slowly.  Took me over 2 hours.  But, the fact that I moved for two hours instead of laying on the couch---is a miracle.

I'm going to force myself to do it again tomorrow, but earlier.

My husband rode his bike down sometime after he ate and met me as I was walking up the ramp to the boards.  He was there for about 45 mins and I don't think he walked more than 25 steps to sit on a bench....

He has an appt for an MRI next month, and an appt with another orthopedic Dr, if it's his hip.  His back Dr doesn't do hip surgery, spine and back only.

If he has a pinched nerve in his back, he's going to need a neuro surgeon.  I'm making him go to a Philly hospital if he needs a neuro surgeon.  He's already had xrays and his back dr said he only has a bit of degenerative disc(s).

Do any of you eat the same thing day in and day out? Ice cream doesn't count. I was thinking of eating healthier and having oatmeal for breakfast, yogurt and fruit for lunch, with regular meals around 6pm. By regular, I mean a big variety and full size portions. I have a pretty big appetite, but think I could get used to the same things for breakfast and lunch.

I pretty much do.  I try and eat healthy.  But I can be a real glutton, too.  I can eat a bag of chips and I don't even really like potato chips!  To me they are tasteless, just salty, tastelessness.

I know that if I buy something bad, I'll go through it in record time.  (Vegan brownies from WF----danger!)  I press walnuts into them.Woman LOL
