@aprilskies

I was just asking about you the other day, and here you are!  Ask and ye shall receive!  You have been missed.🥺

Hope everything is going well on your end.  Yes, I'm having a hard time believing it's July already too.  But as @just bee says, at least that means the year is half over, which for me is good.  I'll be joining you this summer in the a/c--our heat indices are going to be 105+ every day this week.🥵

I'm glad to know you're still with us, even in spirit.  Pop in when you can!❤️

Re: The Bee Hive -- July 2022 Edition

I'm going to complain (yet again)--on a holiday even.  So ignore the rest of this post if you're having Fourth of July fun today.

Yesterday I had another credit card hacked.  This makes two separate cards compromised in six months.  WTH?!🤬

I think the first one was from a local gas station that has since closed, in part because of too many cards being hacked.  Duh.  And too many robberies to boot.  😳

But this one was on a card I use primarily online, which scares me.  I thought I was being careful.  And I never use sites I'm not familiar with or aren't secure.  All the suspicious charges were denied immediately both times by both companies, but it still worries me.  I guess that's one good thing about having extremely boring buying habits--they know right away it's not me.  (No, I'm not at a Safeway in Maryland trying to buy gas.  Or ordering online from a restaurant.)

Time to go back to cash locally.  And really rethink my online ordering.  Which I need to do anyway just because I want to drastically reduce spending.

I was watching the old Centennial miniseries over the weekend.  And as the series progressed I got progressively (redundant?) depressed about how our society evolved.  And it's getting worse.  Oh, I know it was hardly 'romantic' when the first inhabitants and very early settlers were living off the land.  Heck, even today living in the country is hard with all the modern conveniences.  Worrying about being eaten by a bear or where to get your next meal is hardly the same as having to sit on the phone for an hour and then wait ten days for a new credit card.

But watching those times when people didn't have the possessions we deem necessary now made me stop and think about my own lifestyle.  I just may watch those early episodes again.  Maybe something will sink in this time.😕

@geezerette

There was a period when I was replacing my debit card more often than my Brita filter.  So I stopped using it.

I intend to get depressed today by watching 1776.

As for collecting more stuff, refer to the Braveheart quote.

Here's an Oscar Wilde quote for you:

God grant me the serenity to accept that people are ignorant, the courage to uphold the law when I'm hostile, and the wisdom to realize that murder is illegal.

@just bee

Thanks for reminding me about 1776.  I had missed it would be on.

Logical that it would be, but logic seems to be missing a lot lately.

Re: The Bee Hive -- July 2022 Edition

Neighbors had fireworks last night.  They weren't bad--just minor 'popping' with no really loud bangs.  In fact, the little cat sat on my bed and watched the lights appear and disappear through the trees.  I'm not sure if the other cat was afraid since he usually isn't on the bed that early anyway.

As usual, Carla was out cold and snoring so loud I had to wake her several times so I could hear the TV.😂

We'll see if we're that lucky again tonight.🤞
