The Giant Schnauzer is a VERY formidable dog! Really not for everyone. I love the looks but not for me!!

That's the one thing I know.  There are the breeds I love and admire, and there are the breeds I can live with. Woman Wink

I still prefer a cat. 🥰 I’ve discovered over the years that my extreme noise sensitivity doesn’t mix well with a dog even though I love all animals.

Don't tell anyone, but I was a cat person in my youth.

Cats are just different from dogs.  Obviously. ☺️  Neither better or worse.  Just a matter of preference and lifestyle.

But big dogs and little dogs are different from each other too.

I've been fortunate to live with all in my life. 💕

Congratulations, Monty.

@just bee - I actually wanted one of these but hubby wanted the poodle. He was impatient. He says we can still get one but I'm definitely not getting another dog.

I ended up with two dogs after I said "No more dogs!".🤣

I have never owned an animal ever-

that dog that won that big dog show. Monty is that dog hard to live with? does it shed a lot ? just questions. The dog looks so cute and loveable . enjoy reading about different things.

We had a miniature Shnauzer years ago, they need to be trimmed and their beard can get messy. I believe children need pets to learn care and compassion.

I enjoy listening to the breed descriptions during the dog show.

Even if you go to the AKC website, you'll see statements like:

The breed is not for the casual owner.

Early socialization and puppy training classes are a must with this strong, protective breed.

A Giant Schnauzer needs to have a job.

The Giant is a high-energy, protective, territorial guard dog.

These are things a person tends to ignore when they see a dog and decide they want it based on a certain look.  What the breeder is telling you is that if you don't properly train the dog, it's going to be a crazed baby killer.

And that's how millions of dogs end up in shelters.
