Yes, you've gotten a lot of invaluable information here, and as you say, it's almost too much to take in right now.

Options.  You have them, even though some may not be the best.  But the one option you don't have is to opt for a treatment that is not the most effective.  That is your main objective--to get this cancer gone for good.  Even if it requires taking advantage of every perk that you can on your job, calling in all your favors from coworkers, or even working the rest of your life on the back end to pay the bills.  If you don't get well and stay well, none of the rest matters.

Sure, you need to get as much information now as you can so that you can make the best decisions while you have the most options available.  Talk to your supervisor, HR, coworkers that have been in similar situations.  You aren't the first or only person there that has been in this situation.  Being prepared is always good, but don't dwell on those details.  As we all have said, now is the time to do what's best for you and put others' needs aside.

Inadvertently your life has been preparing you for just such a scenario, if you think about it.  You got into decluttering and minimizing long before it was popular.  Your house fire turned out to be a blessing in disguise because now you have what is basically a brand new house that shouldn't require any major expenses for a while.  You have gotten your wants and needs down to the bare minimum.  While this is certainly nothing anyone wants to happen, you're actually in a good position to deal with it.

But it's going to bug the heck out of you because of the uncertainty and lack of control.  Do what you can to prepare, but make the best decision for yourself.  Then concentrate on getting well and only that.  You'll have time afterwards to deal with what needs to be dealt with.

Another life lesson, to be sure.  And remember, you're not alone in this.

Is this more proof that I'm just old?

Because I've always had jobs that required phone skills.  And when I'm on the phone with people many of them tell me I have wonderful phone skills.

I rarely use the phone when I'm not at work.  I don't like long chats on the phone, either.

Yet I have phone skills without ever taking a Phone Skills course.

It's gotta be age.

@just bee

Yes.  😉

The OG and I used to talk about the fact that now both of our jobs are obsolete.  We have been replaced by computers.  In fact, his whole business is now probably done by computers.

You're old, but at least you're still necessary.

I'm just old.

There is a real bee next to the printed bee in this urinal : mildlyinteresting

This is me, looking at the bee in the urinal at the Cancer Center today.

Because I am not a male and will never be one, I am not familiar with urinals.

BH noticed a bee in the urinal and mentioned it to me and I, of course, had to see it.

Apparently they use bees and other things to create a "target."

BH said he didn't know about bees and any propensity for golden showers.

They bring May flowers, silly.

Don't jump to any conclusions there.  You might change your mind.

Given where you live, that's probably one procedure you could get fully funded.
