I've never liked talking on the phone for more than 5 or 10 minutes.
I'm not on Facebook, InstaGram, etc. - I communicate with family and friends via text and/or email 99% of the time.
If it's something really important, then I'll actually call and vice-versa, but my life is simple and uncomplicated, and I keep my communication that way as well.
NOTE: I tend to text messages of love and encouragement all the time, and I know the recipients appreciate it, because they say so, and usually reciprocate.
So, I guess (in my case) its no less "personal" than a phone call.

Texting is ok with me, but if it were my mom or dad, I would be calling.
My step daughter texts a lot with her mom and I told her she should pick up the phone and talk to her once in a while......

It's pretty CLEAR
People use texting in place of real relationships.
I agree with you whole heartedly. I see it in some of my friends. If it's not reciprocal, then the friendship is shallow. I'm definitely with you.

If someone can only spare the time for a quick text to me, I'd rather they spent that time on someone else.
