Here are both items on their sides, so that you can see some of the ribbon detail.

This is the before picture of what I'm working on now.  The owl is a thrift store purchase (the same item as what I used in my homemade lamp, if you followed that thread in Home), one item for recycling, and a gift from my Secret Santa, a Jim Shore cat figurine.

I'll let you think about what this will be, but for now it's drying so I won't be able to photograph the finished project for a bit.

@Bird mama

@house_cat

Here is the finished product.

I am always keeping track of their late to class passes, their early dismissal/late arrival passes, and those from the health room.  I chopped off part of Sr. Kitty's tail to make a spindle, to tack the used passes on.  The can will hold clean passes that I need to write and room for a pen.

I screwed in the can and the statue, covered the can and wooden disc with fabric, and used plaid trim to cover the edges.

You might recognize my helper's feet in the picture.

@lolakimono

Best advice I can give......keep personal life out of the classroom.  If you are upset

leave your problems at the door.  Remember

the students are somebody's children.  Most

important be consistent.  Children need to

know what to expect when they walk in the door.  Enjoy ...................

Thanks, lola... so many good ideas.

I went back today and our kids start Thursday.

I can spend way too much time on Pinterest viewing this stuff.

Here are a few that I pinned recently.
