@cheriere  Well those critters need to find something else to eat and stay away from the fruit!  Wish they would eat the things I detest, like brussel spouts, peas, okra, and beets.

LOL 😂

Although I like those other foods you mentioned, I do understand!  I wish they'd start eating Lima Beans!  Yuck 🤮 lol

My parents always had a strawberry patch when I was growing up.  When they would send us kids out to pick the strawberries, I always ate them as I went along.  Oh, some did get in the basket!!!!  I'm quite old now, and have survived all those years of never giving special cleaning to most fruits.

I've decided that when I eat a piece of fruit right off the plant, there might be impurities of some sort.

That's great!

I have never seen bugs in any of the strawberries I buy and don't soak in anything.

I don't think it's anything to freak out about.  Any fresh fruit or vegetable can occasionally get something eating on it and we take it home without knowing.  If you find some kind of bug or worm, cut off the section of the apple, tomato, ear of corn, etc., or just pitch the whole berry.

I do the vinegar and water soak on my strawberries, but only a quick swish around the bowl with my raspberries and blackberries.  They seem to break down and get mushy if they're left in the vinegar water too long. Let them dry out on a paper towel lined sheet pan and store in glass jars. They last longer that way.  Blueberries just get rinsed in tap water and dried before storing.
