Re: Spring has Sprung at the Back Fence - April 2019

Because the east cost is getting hammered with storms, I won't complain about the rain that is falling outside my window.  My sister picked up the ham and sides from honeybaked the other day.  She loves to shop for food and was telling me the other things she picked up yesterday, like a lamb shaped butter, some spinach dip, brie and some fig stuff for the top of that (blech).  Of course we got into a discussion about me covering half of the additional things she picked up.  Never got so far as a full fledged argument - I got her to agree that I will pay for her ticket to one of the great niece's dance recitals in June.

I'm responsible for the pop (bought and in the fridge), rolls (3 dozen hawaiin rolls) and devilled eggs.  I don't make fancy devilled eggs - I make them like my Ma mad them.  Some with mustard, some with miracle whip and some (my new variation) with miracle whip and some cooked bacon pieces.  I do my eggs the day we are expecting to eat them so I will have them boiling early tomorrow morning.

Re: Spring has Sprung at the Back Fence - April 2019

My sister and I make the trek 'to the woods' Woman Wink on Sunday with a car full of food.  The sides were thawed and would need to be baked for a short time so we made sure there were choices among appetizers to nibble on during the wait.

The purpose of us bringing everything (down to the paper plates and bowls) was to make it effortless and easy for the eldest niece (it was at her house).  We shared the details of what we were bringing so niece wouldn't have to shop for something we already bought.  From what I saw and heard we were all excited and happy to gather for a great meal.

I don't know what happened between Holy Saturday and Easter Sunday.  There is just something about that branch of the family tree.... my sister and I can never get it right.  No matter what we do, no matter how much we extend ourselves, it's received with 'looks' and sarcastic comments.

I'm done Woman Happy  If invited, I will visit the great nieces for their birthdays.  If our schedules can line up, I'll pop in around the holidays for a quick visit to say hello.

@hellie jo   I'm glad that your beloved and Sadie are doing well.  Yes dogs and squirrels, I remember it well.  It's like that Hatfields and McCoys - it goes back generations.

@hellie jo   I hope your DH is doing better, so scary.

One morning I heard a crash in the bathroom so called out to DH, woke him up from a faint, and DH told me then he had fainted when he was a child.  Another day when DH came home from work, he told me he fainted on the steps of the train as he was waiting for the door to open to disembark, now that scared me.  I told him to get to the doctor, think he had a CT, can't remember, then diagnosed with this.

"Vasovagal syncope: Also known as the "common faint," this is the most frequent cause of syncope. It results from an abnormal circulatory reflex. ... People older than 45 years of age rarely experience a first "common faint..."
