I don't understand why I'm always reading here of so many unwanted spam phone calls you all are receiving!! I have only a cell phone and honestly I get NONE. Not one spam call! Is it because you still have a landline? I must be doing something right not to be getting so many of these phone calls.

When we were trying to sell our house the amount of people calling us to try to get around using the realtor was unbelieveable. Probably 5 a day, and that's a conservative #.

Not it is political calls!

It took a year or two but I kept blocking telemarketing and other spam calls and now I receive very few...perhaps 1-2 a week instead of several per day.

@Thrive

I have Verizon service on my land line, and I've been noticing these calls in the last few weeks.  SPAM comes up in the caller ID along with a location or bogus name.

The Verizon service I have does not support nomorerobo.

I have CALL BLOCK.

Have discussed this several times here, so I'm repeating myself, I know.

The blocked calls often continue to call several times a day.  No matter how many I block, new names/locations continue to show up.

When I reach the 250 limit, I delete them all and start over.

I don't answer, have my ringer turned off, etc.  Believe me, I've done as much as I can to stop/discourage/decrease the number of unwanted calls and will continue to do so.

Problem is, they continue to call, and I continue to not answer.

Get odd calls on my cell phone now and again, but I don't answer.  Most times, I think it is a wrong number, but my phone has a "call block" feature on it.

Thankfully, it has not become a problem on my cell phone, which I use very little.

I have a recording on my line put there by my phone company (CenturyLink).   When a caller dials my number he gets a recording that says,  "this number does not accept sales calls.   If this is a sales call,  hang up now and add this number to your DNC  list.   If it's not a sales call,  press 1" .  Only then does my phone ring.

I get maybe one ring from an unknown area code or sales person every two weeks.   It's practically eliminated a major annoyance.  I've never gotten the IRS call.

Call your phone company and see if they have anything that would help you.   If you answer all the calls you get,  you're asking for trouble

@Kachina624  I just bought a new telephone that I can set up to do something like that.  I'm afraid my 90 year old father would get confused by it, though, so I haven't set it up.  I wish I could.  I do use the Call Block on the phone though, and never answer calls I don't know.

FYI:  THIS IS A SCAM ALERT

There is a repeat scam currently going around.  Recorded message says they are from  "Microsoft - Security Services" and that your computer license has expired and your computer windows 10 will not work unless you call them back.  It appears this scam resurfaces every time Microsoft makes valid changes.  Do not call them back.  They give their number as area code 855-201-4**2.

If you get a call from this number ignore it and delete.

I have Verizon (triple play) and about 6 months ago got an email that they are offering free nomorobo.  I see somewhere else that someone said they have a Verizon plan that does not support this free offer - but it's worth a try for everyone to check.   I have it setup so when house phone rings it shows in the corner of the TV screen so I see incoming calls and as others say - it rings once and then I get "Spam?" and stops ringing.  Has tremendously cut down on incoming spam.
