In the New Yorker magazine last month there was a cartoon that made me burst out in laughter the moment I saw it.

There was a flying saucer hovering quite low over a city street and there were lots of people walking below, all on their phones.  The glass dome of the saucer revealed two aliens inside and one said to the other...

"Will you RELAX!!!......I told you they never look up!

When my son was a teenager & got his first cellphone there was a rule in our house. The phone was not allowed at the table during meals.Furthermore, when we went out to dinner the phone was to stay in his pocket. If he tried to take it out, it got taken away until we got home.

The high school my son went to,confiscated any phone taken out, until the end of the school day & a parent was notified.

@781Florist Fabulous!  I was raised on New Yorker cartoons.  Booth's dog!  I love that dog.

Another one should be -- Put your phone down and watch where you're going!!!!

When I was driving yesterday, I was following a woman texting for about 10 minutes. I turned off to a side ride and went another way. She was definitely going to get into an accident and take me and several cars with her.

I also don't like cell phones at the dinner table at home and especially in restaurants.

People should also stay off the cells while walking on sidewalks and crossing the street.

Although it's great to have a "portable phone" to take with you, people are texting and not talking to people.

My husband is much worse than our son.  I have taken my husband's cell phone off the dinner table and put it in the freezer.  Do *not* come to my dinner table and disrespect me.
