Re: Someone getting free cable

Report it, it's simply the right thing to do.

"The thing also is these people throw money away all the time on things like going to auctions and buying collectibles.  But they boast about their free cable."

Yes. I would, but definitely anonamously.  However your above statement would not influence my decision.  Just make sure you are totally sure how they are doing this is illegal.  Taking adantage of loop holes in the system is one thing; but stealing a service is illegal and a crime that eventually affects us all one way or another.

I have always believed in the seemingly new phrase: "See Something, Say Something".  I also would add the word "DO" to that phrase if/when you are able. Never believed in, "let someone else do it" too many to suit me that think that way, leave it up to someone else. If everyone felt the same, then what?

Re: Someone getting free cable

In a heartbeat!

That is one of many reasons CATV bills keep increasing.  There's a way to report it without giving your name/address so the cable supplier can check it out without your involvement.

Sounds like decrepid neighbors so I'd say nothing to anyone, just the cable company.

Let it be. It's really not your business to police your neighbors. It will get discovered eventually.

I bet those 13 kids abused by their parents all of their lives would disagree with that.

Are you seriously comparing free cable to parents abusing and starving their children for years?

@scatcat

Did you even notice what I was responding to, which I quoted in my post? Obviously not, to ask such a dumb question.

My post was referring to "It's not your business to police your neighbors".

Report, it is a theft.  I don't care who it is.  Just terrible.

@peace6576  This is why there is such a push "if you see something, say something."

@KingstonsMom...stealing cable and child abuse is a real STUPID comparison.  Yes, both are criminal activity, but theft and child abuse are far different.  Come on!

Re: Someone getting free cable

@scatcat  See something, say something.  It doesn't matter what it is.  Same thing.  Be viligent and report anything not right.  If these people steal cable, what else are they capable of.  You may think it isn't a big deal but 50 to 60 a month is a big deal - who knows what is going on in that house.  My brother lives in a neighborhood with huge luxiourious properties (I do not).  He noticed that his reception for cable was never right, for years.  Cable compoany constantly checking out on property connections.  After 15 years, it was discovered the neighbor behind had run a cable from my brother's main box, atop a high pole.  Neighbor denied everything but was prosecuted for theft.
