@FlowerBear If the neighbor is hooked up through the other paying customer's line, it will affect the strength of the signal that the paying customers is receiving. Slower speeds for internet service, bad picture on video, etc.. is usually the result.
If this occurs, then the paying customer would call in for a service call and the illegal connection would be discovered.
In my opinion, stealing is stealing, whether or not it's free cable, or stealing a wallet left unattended. If you are afraid that somehow the stealing neighbor will find out if it's you, don't call on your phone that is attached to your cable service to report it - the person answering the phone will know who is calling.

I would report it providing you can do it anonymously.

. No one can tell you what to do in order to justify your behavior and what you decide. It's up to you and what you can live with.

It happened to us and I reported it immediately..
Report it, what they're doing is illegal.

Many people including us, are struggling to make ends meet yet we pay our bills including our cable bill.
I would never do anything illegal to get free cable and it is Stealing . The thing also is these people throw money away all the time on things like going to auctions and buying collectibles. But they boast about their free cable.
Would you report this to cable company or just let it be?
@FlowerBear How did you find out this was happening? If you decide to report it, be sure you have some proof.

You bet I would but only if I knew for sure they were doing it.
I'm the person who says something to the person who parks illegally in the wheelchair space. It happens all of the time.
So often my friend I eat with now will say, "Oh! No! Here we go!"
I believe it is everyone's duty to speak up but only if you know for sure a rule is being broken.
I think that's the problem with society, people look the other way and the law-breakers keep getting away with breaking the law.

We came home early from a trip to Memphis and FOUND the wire running across the driveway... called the cable company and said wire was left intact... the cable people took care of the rest. Neighbors never said squat to us..

There are many people in prisons for doing exactly this same thing. Unless I am mistaken, they are there because it was/is a Federal Felony. The laws may have changed I am not sure, but I read about several in our city a few years ago sentenced to many years in our State Penitentiary.
I personally would tell the cable company because it IS stealing, and also just might be breaking a Federal Law. These illegal acts should not be taken lightly by the perpetrators or those knowing of their illegal acts. I believe this falls under the jurisdiction of the FCC.

I bet those 13 kids abused by their parents all of their lives would disagree with that.
Are you seriously comparing free cable to parents abusing and starving their children for years?
