@hullie wrote:Thanks for the new thread @Sassy7356 ! The snowy pictures match the cold weather we're having now with snow expected. I'm just staying home and working on using up the stuff in my freezer. Today I made a creamy chicken breast slow cooker recipe, mashed potatoes and veggies with hot garlic bread. Jazmin came over, Sarah's day off, so we had some comfort food. The girls took Bijou outside several times for me and worked on cleaning a corner glass cabinet that is hard for me to do the lower levels with my bad knees---have great trouble getting up off the floor. @mousiegirl @Nice to hear from you, I have been thinking about you. Also Bijou is one year old today!
@hullie to precious Bijou,

Sun is shining today so a bit warmer. I have been hearting, but no time to post. DD and fiance left this morning, had a wonderful visit. Fiancee installed a new sink and an LED can light in the laundry room.
We discovered a leaking pipe in the storeroom. so plumbers here, and a septic clean out company coming tomorrow as there is a clog somewhere. BIG money to replace the pipe and some plumbing there, in addition to which we have to get a frig and freezer as I need a freezer.
DD and I had a warm, loving visit, but the two of them are like Siamese twins, so she was with him mostly. He ate like a horse, what one would expect in a teenage boy, told me he is a growing boy, lol.
I made fried chicken on the 21st when they arrived, and all together, sushi take out, Chinese take out, ham last night, made them ham and cheese biscuit sandwiches, made cheesy drop biscuits larger and longer with the sandwiches in mind, turned out great, along with leftover fried chicken for their drive back, three pies, sent a baked apple pie with them, spent the whole visit trying to keep him full, impossible, lol. Hot dogs and hamburgers one night, the marinated cracked crab on Christmas Eve, Prime rib Christmas day. They ate out one night in SF.
I told DH to get the usual chicken thighs, skin on and bone in is what I like for fried chicken, did not notice until the day I began to prepare it that he bought three packages of skinless, boneless, nine to a package, so you know I was frying for hours, so two batches of fried chicken while they were here.
I did manage to make the cheesecake for my birthday, but no time or energy for desserts as so much other cooking was needed, and DD had no interest in making them, fortunately, I had large bags of two types, think DH ate the third before Christmas, so sent them along with them, he ate them like potato chips.
I don't remember if I mentioned that when the freezer died, I told DH to get all coolers out and put the six pies and ham in them and keep them iced, two weeks and all was still frozen, thank goodness. There are still a few pies and smoked turkey breast from Q in them.
Their car was so packed inside and on the roof, quite a sight to see. I had many items from Christmases they didn't come so she wanted to take all, but at least she will have to come back for them, lol. I gave her lots from my pantry. They want to try to fry the chicken as I do when they get back. Fiancee is a communicator, so we had many talks and laughs, am so glad DD has this in her life, hopefully all will stay happy for them.
Lots of pans from last night to clean today.

Hi @CherryHugs ![]()
This could be an exact photo of when I was a child, growing up. Virtually virgin snow, everywhere. When, as a child, you look out the window, to see if the sidewalks were plowed. If not, NO SCHOOL! yeah! hoots!
Where each year, you were wishing & hoping for a "White Christmas." If not, then, a White New Year's.
At night, when ppl are home, tucked away warm, & when you're the only one walking outside, while it's snowing, you can hear a *shhhhhushing* of the softly, gently dropping delicate snowflakes. You can feel the little dots of wet, cold, landing on your cheeks & eyebrows.
Where you just want to appreciate the virgin snow, before it gets all dirty, & earmarked by a busy world, wrapped up in places to go.
Where at that first snow of the Season, you cant wait to delightfully go out, make & toss that first snowball.
And you can feel that wonderful, magical smile on your wet-cold face, while still also warmly dressed.
And then you come inside, into a wonderfully flavor filled kitchen, & sit down for some warm homemade soup & freshly baked bread.
And you hope, life always stays like this...

@CherryHugs & all: This looked like Snickers after our last cold walk. She had her bath, was towel dried and is in her chair in front of the heater. She and I had snacks, I have to pay her to be dried.
I didn't have lunch due to many postponed errands this morning. My granddaughter could help my son so I've done a lot. Laundry is finishing.@Sweet Caroline 1 Did your sister find a dentist? I made an appointment with a new one for next Thursday. I'll have to have another X-ray because my dentist can't text it. If I like the local one that's where I'll continue. It's 30 miles round trip to the old one, plus only one dentist who forgets to text.

That sounds amazing. I really love what you said. Sure sounds cozy and content. I just love the snow when its fresh and white before it gets dirty and half melted.
It makes me feel happy and like a child. I still just love the snow and how it makes everything seem fresh...
So happy to see you here on this thread!
