Our computer damage on January 2 was much worse than originally thought.  Not only was our desk top computer completely destroyed by power surges during a strong power outage in our home, but the TV monitor, remote and other equipment were also destroyed beyond repair.  Several attempts were made over several days to make repairs but to no avail; not one of them worked in the end and everything had to be replaced at a substantial expense.    In the end we had to replace the entire package!!!  I know power surges can be devastating  and we had never experienced anything to this extent before.  We're still trying to take it all in.

So in the ensuing days, weeks and even months we'll be relearning a lot about computers considering all the advancements and changes made to them through the years.  I hope we're up to the task.  I'm sure some of the days will be rather challenging to say the least.

I'm sorry this has happened @AnikaBrodie.  My sister is dealing with power surge damage from since December 26th.  They are having to replace every appliance in their home.  The surge was caused by the garbage truck knocking their power lines off the side of their home.  The Waste Management not returning their phone calls.  Take the time at this time to carefully check everything that is electrical in your home.  Can't be too careful.  Take care @AnikaBrodie and Ed.

Dear @Sassy7356,   The temperatures in your area are so extreme!  I hope that you and Jason are able to stay warm.  I think that all of us are having extra cold weather but yours sounds dangerous.  Please stay safe.  I must admit, I love Fall and Winter but this year, the Winter here in my area is staying freezing with no warmer days here and there.  The warmer days are a spoiler and missed while they aren't here.  Next week they talked about warmer days but more snow possible next week on thursday night and friday.  It makes it hard to make appointments and keep the stuff going.  Stay warm Sassy, Mother, Jason and pups!  Love ya!

Good morning everyone. 

I'm still here and still learning ... a lot!  This computer is awesome and has a lot of new and advanced program features.  So I'm learning something new every day.  

@Sweet Caroline 1  We have a request (work order)  in to our maintenance department to check our breaker system thoroughly.  This was also suggested by our nephew earlier this week.  I agree, you can't be too careful and I thank you for your heads-up suggestion.  Power surges are awful!!!

This morning it's 18 degrees and cloudy.  Even Alfie didn't stay out very long, and he loves being outside.  We'll be lucky if we end up in the mid 20's today with minimal sun.  That appears to be the trend for the next week or so.
