Re: Skypie and Friends Renewed

Hi ladyr:  Hope your summer is going well, too.  We are in triple digits right now but a "cold front" should drop us to high 90's this weekend.  LOL

Or now is it HA HA HA instead of LOL?

Take care.  Hopefully those missing will pop in and just say "Hello" soon.

Re: Skypie and Friends Renewed

@Cakers3, @ladyroxanne, @go2girl

trying to see how to do this ! haven't posted in months, do read through everyday.

so i have seen a few posts from you ladies-

and will say hello before i go-

thought with the @   feature maybe you'd see my post here, tho idk how that works!

would like to know how you are doing...

and vinnie the bird, and go2's grandbaby too.

i have 2 grandsons now, so fun to see them interact, now that the 'baby' can hold his own in a tussle and run away if needed. he is very quiet, except for occasional  monkey screeches - and his very verbal older brother talks gibberish to him alot- it looks like big brother wants to keep little one in the dark as to language skills- funny for now....

first real snow of the winter last week, was a blizzard- but melting nicely. last year we had snow cover thru march. it was pretty here,  then the worrying sets in about the family members who commute - but all was well after all my stress.

 i was disappointed last year that when merle passed, i tried to put some things on the board about her, but was the week the 'new' board swept in and erased all of it.

i do recall her 'hubcap', she had such an amusing way of telling her story.

hope to hear from you, i do see you !

@ladyroxanne

idk, i have no idea on this forum, i go through my posting history, and since it was so sparse, i found 'skypie'.

i hadn't realized at the time that you had been so close to merle, it's nice when folks connect through these sort of things, often very different folks that wouldn't have met otherwise. some folks do face their end with 'amazing grace', and to me, when i see that, it makes me a little less fearful about the inevitable. Heart

hope your family is well- enjoy your valentine weekend- we don't do anything, i can't go out anyway. i do have some red roses here that i ordered for me- as instructed- but they are duds. they are very red tho, and go with the holiday decor from december- yes! but don't judge me.Cat Embarassed

i am hoping to work on my big jigsaw puzzle with dh this weekend, now that football is over. have some british shows on pbs in the background- that would be fine with me. expect bitter cold, but most snow has melted, plenty of seed in the birdfeeders, so we are set.

i would love to see the wee ones again, but have to wait for winter illness season to be over, those kids are too germy now that the older one goes to a class a few times a week. we even missed the little one's 1st birthday, just couldn't chance it, my immune system not up to par.

thank you, dh is ok, not worse, trying to see if he can improve things even more. i am hopeful he can improve somewhat more at least, he has to keep that thought going, he hates to resign himself to anything. in the spring, medical visits get going for both of us, it is the reason i kind of hang on to winter.

kisses to vinnie the bird- hey i forget- aren't you originally from nj or pa?Woman Happy

@shosh

it's so nice to hear from you and i can't believe you found this thread!  i went back many, many pages and couldn't find it.

winter is the time for sickness especially for the little ones.  they go to school or play with others and pick up everything.  it's best to wait especially now.  i'm sorry to hear that you're both kind of house bound, but keeping yourself busy.  my mother did jigsaws.  she would set up a card table in the living room and do them.

we don't have any plans for valentine's day, at least not yet.  it's no fun going out because everyone does and it's too crowded.  we go out often so it's not a big deal.  it's my brother's birthday!

i truly adored merle and miss her terribly.  we became close friends and she was not at all like her screen personna.  life wasn't fair to that one, that is for sure.  her husband called me when she died and thanked me for being so supportive during her illness.  she lived on the east coast so i couldn't go to her funeral but we sent flowers.  we got the nicest note from him and their son.

all is well with me.  i still have all my activites and dh is working at a new job that he really enjoys.  vinnie now calls out the dog's name constantly which is a riot.  he says it in my voice.  unfortunately she's 13 now and has recently gone deaf so she doesn't hear a thing!  he still loves his sneakers, but has a new favorite toy, but they're very hard to get.

yes, i'm originally from pa.   a suburb of phila.  we were just back last year in may for a wedding.

cakers occasionally comes along, but i haven't seen her in some time.

you and dh stay warm and healthy.  have a very happy valentine's day!Heart

Re: Skypie and Friends Renewed

Gosh it is so good to stop by and see friendly faces and updates.  I am also hardly ever here anymore.

I do hope that redk9, go2grl, shorelady, are also doing ok and would stop by although I suspect this thread might get buried again.  I will look, however, next time I am around.

Be well everyone and {{{hugs}}} to all to stayed the course here.Heart

Re: Skypie and Friends Renewed

A little nudge to bring this upfront and to send out {{{hugs}}} to all.  I hope winter is finally making way for the start of warmer weather for most of you - we've had very chilly weather this past week and I'm hoping to get outside to do some landscaping soon.

The last six months have been centered around health issues and decisions had to be made.  At least the family is all here and close by.

Grandson is here for the week-end and I took a break while he finished some homework.  The refrigerator is opened, the refrigerator is closed, the refrigerator is opened - etc. etc. etc.  LOL  The grazing of a teen ager.

Be well everyone.Heart

Re: Skypie and Friends Renewed

@ladyroxanne

my son lives/works in eastern pa- it was funny that when he got a job there after college, and moved there- he was right in the area that my ancestors had settled in 300 years ago when they came over from europe. later they seemed to have scattered from that area, but now he has returned to start his family!   i thought that was weird, given all the possible places in the usa.

have you been enjoying your ca 'winter'? Woman Very Happy

@Cakers3

good to see you...i am hanging onto the the bit of snow we had today, i do not want to get to the landscaping !

i hear you about the health issues- maybe i was just clueless as to what was going on around me- but i don't recall that being such an ongoing part of everyday life for the family, growing up and even into adulthood. maybe i get too enmeshed now, but then again, we have responsibilities to others and ourselves, that all may grow as time passes and we all get older!

i realize that we actually have been fortunate, in relation to what i have seen out there. it's 'what happens next' that gets to me the most.

it is so good if you do have family, and they can work together through it, it's hard enough...i hope that your situation is improving as best as can be.

oh how i wish my grandson was here for the weekend! they are still toddlers, but the older one, in my own mind anyway, is almost ready for an extended visit- if i was up to it, i'd be dropping strong hints!

but a teenager - have you put him to work yet ?! i'd have a long list of 'fun' jobs....Man Tongue

@shosh

what winter lol  we're in the 60's right now because we're having a rain storm.  i still haven't worn all my winter clothes and i don't think  the'll be a priority for some time to come.

origninally my paternal side of the family settled to alexandria, va and we were there and still are with the exception on one doctor who moved north and joined on of the big nospitals in the city

@Cakers3

i hope all health issuses ended well or will end that way soon...my grandson is graduating from h.s. this june.  i am sure yours is older than mine.  i know all about the opening and closing the refrigerator door over and over again all day!  and the food they eat!  t's like an endless pit.

is everyone enjoying the debates as much as we are?  i watched a couple and then some newscoverage andt that's about it for me.  what is going on in this country that people are so unprofessiional for running for the top job in the country!  no respect or something.

hugs to all until next time Heart
