A friend gave me a pair of Muk Luks. I wear an 11 shoe, but the tag on these slipper socks says XL 11 1/2 to 12.  There are about 2" longer than a good fit. I am a senior citizen and afraid of falling. She asked me how I liked them and I told her I was afraid of tripping. Her answer was "pick up your feet" when you walk. I will see her in a  few weeks and am trying to decide if  I should give them back which would make her mad, or lie and tell her they are fine and just donate them. What would you do?

I would keep them, wash them on hot and tumble dry high and see if that helps.  If not, you can always wear them inside a boot.  I wouldn't want to hurt my friend's feelings.  I would just act thankful and move on.

@geegerbee. I'd either donate them or wear them as bed socks because my feet are always cold.

Why lie?  Is she going to ask you about them?  If she does, just be honest and tell her they are too big and you feel unsafe wearing them.  Period.

Yes, she asked me about them and told me to pick up my feet.

Wash them.  I guarantee they will shrink.  I wear a size 6 shoe and bought the S/M size for shoe sizes 6 to 8.

After I washed them once, they shrunk.  They are now too small for me.  I should have sized up.

After a certain age I would not wear any type of socks without shoes. I would not give them back. Do not bring them up in conversation, but she asks smile and thank her again. Sometimes a little white lie is ok.

I would wash and dry them (on high) and I bet they will be fine!

I agree with others to go ahead and wash the socks first before you decide to donate them.  They may fit after all when washed and dried.  I wouldn't give them back to her, I would donate them.

If my dog doesn't like you, neither do I.
