Shoplifter at Nordstrom Rack

I just felt like stopping in to check out a few things. I didn't find anything I wanted  but as I was in the store there was this probably 22-25 year old girl with a bunch of clothes on her arm. She was looking at duffle bags but I was in the area so she left. Anyway as I was walking out there was a car pulled up in front of the store which I thought was odd. Next thing I know the alarms are going off and here comes this girl with all these clothes still on the hangers yelling "go, go, go" to the guy in the car. They sped off through the parking lot. I did get the license plate number of the car and gave it to the manager and I'm sure she is on camera. I don't know if anything will come if it.

Omg... you were a witness to a crime !  Shoplifters have big kahunas to think they won't get caught !

That's awesome you got the license plate number.   Smiley Happy

Re: Shoplifter at Nordstrom Rack

Years ago, I saw the same sort of stealing - at The Rack.

The thief had arms full of jeans.  Except the employee was hot on the chase.

All of a sudden there were jeans flying all over the place.

The employee hadn't caught them, but figured they dropped everything they were stealing, in the parking lot.

And,  that was great, quick thinking getting the license #.

Good thing you were there!

@Meowingkitty Good detective work.I hope that the police do something but I haven't much hope.I have reported shoplifters and was told that there wasn't anyone in the store qualified to do anything. They need a security person to actually witness the theft.I have seen so much of it going on in my area that one day I told the sales clerk that I must be the only fool standing in line waiting to pay.I had her call the manager and told him that if they didn't get some store security I would no longer shop there.I can't afford to pay for the theft losses.

Where do you think all that brand new  high end designer merchandise on Ebay and sites like that comes from?  Thefts like that are big business and have been for many years.  That and the smash and grabs.  There are gangs like that and travel form city to city hitting high end stores and boutiques.  Sometimes in the wee hours, they throw something through a store window and grab those furs and designer bags and drive off.  They are long gone before the police arrive.  Nothing will come of it because they changed cars before the police even arrived at the store to take the report.

Re: Shoplifter at Nordstrom Rack

I agree - great job!!    Had you not gotten that license plate number, they would have probably gotten away scot-free.

I guess there are things that people can acquire that remove those alarm tags from the garments.    These people knew what they were doing to have a getaway ready to go.

I think something will come of it, unless the store management is just apathetic to shoplifting.    Theft costs all of us.

Two thumbs up to you!

I've been on eBay since 2003 (actually since 2000 with a different ID).... and have been very involved in the Fashion/Purse & Accessory Board and learned of several big time sellers (and some smaller sellers) of Designer clothing/bags being busted big time.

One lady made millions from a scam she developed, but was busted with several mistakes when selling.  If it makes anyone feel better, eBay takes it very seriously and there can be ways to uncover the thieves. Not everyone or always of course, but they have people who are specifically trained to watch the sales.
