Re: September 2022 Bird's Nest

@Bird mama

Congratulations for fixing and building your computer. I am glad there wasn't anything more serious. I hate that smell of something"burning" and then can't find where it is coming from.

I'll fill you in on the latest saga of the medicine clan.

First of all my DD has a definite diagnosis. PTL. She began her steroids this noon. I hope they work and she has no side affects.

I am going with her Monday up to Rochester to see the specialist for this horrible disease. It's a chronic thing called Eosinophilic Gastritis. Very rare and no cure. I am so relieved that there is a special clinic for this disease and they will be able to explain everything to her. This affects her entire digestive system, so her diet will be be a total do over eventually. You know these auto immune diseases are one big kick in the butt.

DH's endoscopy went well and it looks like the results are back and are ok. I am so glad for him as he was a little nervous to hear the results. He just needs to learn to eat slower and chew everything into small pieces and don't gulp his beverages.

As for me I am going to have an infusion for the osteoporosis on the 21st. This is a once a year infusion. Hope it works. I also will be continuing my magnesium infusions monthly for one year. I don't know how my physical medicine doctor will feel about it, but that's my final decision. I am not going to go ahead for spinal surgery. The outcome didn't sound all that promising and I am not a risk taker, especially at my age.

@Leeny  Not knowing can be worse than knowing and I am glad that your daughter has a diagnosis.  Even better she has access to physicians who are familiar with her disease.

Good news about your husband's endoscopy results.  My Mom and my husband both had problems when as they aged (he was 18 years my senior) with swallowing large vitamins or medications, especially first thing in the morning.  They had to learn to be awake for awhile, drink some kind of fluid to more or less relax and lube the throat and then take their morning medication or vitamins.

I hope the osteoporosis infusion once a year helps your bones and I can certainly understand why you wouldn't want something doing surgery on your spine.

Re: September 2022 Bird's Nest

I did yardwork on Friday and installed the new power source into my old desktop tower.  I moved slow and was very careful when I swapped out the old for the new.  The desktop tower wouldn't turn on, even after I put in a new CMOS battery.  Is it possible that I got taken when I bought the PSU from ebay?  The seller was highly rated with lots of ratings - I don't know.  Is it possible I accidentally nudged one of the tiny components on the mother board when I was working?  With God all things are possible.

Mid-week I bought a new office chair from Office Depot/Max.  I sat in the chair in store months ago and liked the fit and adjustments.  I wasn't paying $299 for the chair - it's not an executive chair.  I watched the price go up and down for months and when I saw it on sale for $99 I said, okay now we're talking.  Scored an additional 5% off for picking it up in person.  Because I wasn't sure if I was going to be able to save my old desktop I also picked up a monitor with USB connection just in case I was going to have to treat my laptop as a hard drive.

I was tired Friday and said you know what?  Get over it Bernie and move on.  I destroyed the mother board of the old desktop and removed my drive that has personal stuff on it.  I got rid of the monitor too.  The emotional part of this was getting rid of the logitech speaker/sub woofer set that my husband bought me almost 20 years ago.  The connections were old fashioned and I couldn't make the set work on the laptop.  New desktops don't have this old kind of connection either.

I worked hard in the yard yesterday installing new shepherd's hooks for bird feeders; wow pine tree roots fight back when you are trying to work through them by hand.

@Bird mama

Oh it has been a rotten weekend as far at the weather goes. Rain and more rain. Temps are nice cool though. Beginning Tuesday, back to the 80's and I imagine the dew point will also be up.

We don't do any yard work anymore. We have a small patio area and we do put out a few sheperd's hooks, but even that is getting to be less each year.

Went to church this morning and that is even getting tougher. Even going to the late service doesn't help much. DH doesn't care for it as it runs into his football time.. oh, boo whoo. lol

Tomorrow off to Rochester with DD and to maneuvering in that humongous clinic will be a challenge for me. DD knows her way around thank God. I'll be totally wiped out tomorrow night.

I know DH has trouble swallowing those darn horse pills, but he knows he really has to take his time and not rush it.

@viva923

How right you are! It is not a nice disease. I am just thankful there are doctor's who specialize in this disease. Plus she didn't have to wait for ages to get in to see him either. It will be a long day tomorrow, but so be it. I am just glad that she can begin to understand it and get the proper treatment.

@Leeny   Can the pills be halved?  Tell him it is easier to take pills when there is food in the mouth.  I chew my food, then pop a few supplement capsules in and swallow.  I take many supplements and I find that if I try without food, they can get a bit stuck on the way down.
