I have many, I mean many pieces of gold jewelry from QVC. Almost all the jewelry, except a few costume jewelry lines was 10k and 14k. I have looked for solid gold rings on Q recently. There are maybem15 pieces, and a few rings. I woukd buy a gemstone ring set in gold even now. I woukd not buy any rings in plated. Etc.  I wish they gave us a choice. Back in the day they did give us a choice even when gold was high they had high pieces selling for thousands!!! They sold.  Some sold out. I wish they gave us a choice

@rockygems123 They did not say but I believe you could ask them.  They make an offer and you can accept or not.  If you refuse the offer they will send items back.  Shipments are insured.

@pachutabelle and all that spoke so highly about selling gold and jewelry to Express Gold Cash! I finally got thru my jewelry and sorted it out, called for the kit and then packed it up and sent it. Within a day, no more than two, I had a message telling me the value they would pay for it. OMiGOS it was more than I had thought it would it would be. I replied acceptance and with an hour or two I had it in our account!

THANK YOU!!! Without the post here I would have either not done anything or driven to a local jeweler.  Great info!

I have some gold jewelry I'd be willing to part with.  But i don't remember which was 14k and which was plated.  How can I tell?

I would like to know the price per gram since that is how it is priced when sold to you.

You should go to a site in person that buys gold. They can check it in person. If you AI some of these on line gold buyers they can lie about weights and many people have been short changed. Also many complaints about not returning the gold in a timely fashion if you don't accept their offer. You also need to insure everything and since gold is now over $4000.00 an ounce more scammers out than ever. I know many people who work in the industry with all sorts of stories. Even a local post office was caught with someone working there that was stealing the contents of packages.

So my advice is sell locally. Stay away from pawn shops and try and find well reviewed in person businesses that buy gold in person. They can weigh it for you in person. Also remember if you are selling name brand jewelry like Cartier, Tiffany's, Roberto Coin, David Yurman, etc. they command premium prices above spot gold prices @Beammeupscotty .

We have a local jewelry and coin dealer that buys gold.  I only took broken pieces and a few single earrings, my high school ring, one gold chain and a few rings from QVC.  I got way more than I thought.  But it was local, and walked out with a check.  I specially asked about my high school ring, I got $248, I paid $32 for it in 1976.  I thought they were 14k, but they were 10k, never knew that.  Nothing I took had any sentimental value.

We recently sold some of our gold and silver jewelry to a GIA person that lives in the same area as we do. Very surprised by how this all works. Her "cut" is smaller than those you might see advertised on TV, advertised in your local paper or in the mail. We took the money. No pressure from her at all. She also priced out other pieces but we are going to hold those until next year. If you want to go on a trip, pay some bills, or have some play money I strongly encourage you to find someone locally.
