Sales Tax Holiday

[ Edited ]

I'm in Ohio and we're having a sales tax holiday which started 7/30 and will go through 8/8. I've never really paid attention to how it works (thought it just applied to school items) until a little bit ago when I ordered an item on here. I was quite shocked to see no sales tax. At first, I thought QVC was having a glitch, but then I remembered hearing about this tax holiday and realized what was happening. So, thought I'd let others who live in Ohio, or any other states that do this, know that this might be a good time to shop, especially on more expensive items. I'm sure a lot of you already knew about this, but there might be some out there, like me, who were unaware.

That's nice... I don't think that PA does this. However PA doesn't tax on most clothing items.

WOW . . . tax-free for a week? Nebraska doesn't do anything tax-free except food! We are a heavily taxed state.

Money screams; wealth whispers.

I remember Kohl's used to have a tax free day usually on a Sat.  Haven't heard them offering this anymore but then again I don't shop at Kohl's as much as I used to or any B&M stores now.

Our state has its tax free weekend this coming weekend.  And it's for back-to-school items, so there are limited categories that are tax free.

@qualityshopper

I think that's wonderful!  I'm sure it really helps out with families doing back to school shopping.  We don't have that here in Ky.  However, Tennessee does.  Since I live so close it's easy to ride down and shop.

I live in Delaware where we have no sales tax so everyday is a sales tax holiday.

Florida does some days heading into hurricane season for those supplies and now for back to school supplies.   Items included in each are price limited.

The way I shop right now, neither are any help for me.  Last year if I shopped this session, I bought school products tax-free for donations.  Didn't even have to carry them out of the stores.

@millieshops yours started on July 29 and ends on August 11. A friend said she bought 2 pairs of shoes and a backpack for herself.

Georgia decided to end our in 2016 but it was suggested we could take a road trip to Florida, Alabama or Tennessee. That is so funny.

Thanks @Sage04 I had listened to the details on several local news stations.  I know for a family readying kids for school, Florida's sales tax holiday works well.    It also works for many others who can find needs or wants that meet the requirements for each type of item.
